This is a sea urchin known as the Sea Potato Urchin (Astropyga radiata) or more commonly the Flower Urchin (though the exact species depends on region).

What you’re seeing is its vibrant test (outer shell) and the tube feet/spines that give it this alien-like look. The deep purple coloring and the almost "jelly-like" appendages are a defense adaptation and also help it move along rocks while clinging to surfaces in tidal zones.

It lives in shallow waters, often found clinging to rocks or coral, and plays an important role in the marine ecosystem by grazing on algae.

Wings slicing through the salt air,
the gull rises with victory clenched in its beak.
An octopus writhes, tentacles spilling like ribbons of defiance,
but the sea has already surrendered its prize.

Predator and prey—
locked in a fleeting ballet above the tide.
A reminder that survival
is not always graceful, but always raw.

The Masked Lapwing, draped in its strange golden veil, carries the air of an ancient sentinel.
Its wattles hang like battle standards, bright and bold against the clean white breast.
One eye, pale and unflinching, watches as though it knows secrets of the marshlands.

To some, it is simply a bird.
To others, it is a warning—nature’s reminder that beauty often hides behind a mask.

In the shimmering stillness of the marsh,
a burst of pink cuts through the air—
the Roseate Spoonbill, wings wide,
catching the last gold threads of the sun.

Each feather holds a secret of the tides,
a whisper of shrimp-rich shallows
where the water blushes at dawn.

With every sweep of her spoon-shaped bill,
she sifts the world for life—
patient, deliberate, timeless.

Beauty here is not loud,
but it leaves ripples in the heart
long after the bird has passed.

Beneath the sway of kelp forests,
a dragon dances in liquid light.
Its skin—painted in sunbursts and twilight—
shimmers like a living rainbow,
a secret kept by the sea.

It is not in haste,
for the ocean bends to its rhythm.
Every fin a whisper,
every glide a stanza
in the poetry of the deep.

Would you follow it into the blue,
not knowing if it would ever lead you back?

From the ceiling it soars,
frozen in a moment of eternal flight.
Its shadowed wings stretch wide,
casting the spirit of the wild
over the stillness of the hall.

A guardian above—
watching, waiting,
ready to ride the unseen winds.

the pygmy seahorse disappears in plain sight.
Its skin blooms with red polyps,
each one a perfect echo of the gorgonian it calls home.

No speed, no chase—
only stillness,
and the art of vanishing.

Crowned in spines like a monarch of the reef,
the lionfish drifts with regal stillness.
Its colors warn and mesmerize—
a beauty born of danger,
a predator cloaked in elegance.

Every ripple is a calculated move,
every fin a weapon hidden in art.

Deep in the twilight zone of the ocean,
a creature glides like a living lantern—
horns crowned with beads of light,
wings shimmering in midnight blue.

It moves without sound,
a whisper of evolution’s imagination,
a ghost of the deep that few will ever see.

In the quiet gardens of the sea,
the seahorse blooms—
a fragile stem of gold and green,
clinging to coral like a memory
that refuses to drift away.

Beneath the rolling blue,
a phantom drifts in silence.
Its skin—painted in twilight violets and ocean-born blues—
ripples like a living dream.

Each fin unfurls
like lace spun from the deep,
catching the light in fractured jewels.
It moves not in haste,
but with the patience of tides.

Few will see it.
Fewer still will believe.
But here, in the cathedral of coral and shadow,
the sea keeps its most radiant secrets.

With wings like painted arrows,
he cuts through the quiet air—
emerald, gold, and chestnut fire,
a living jewel in flight.

His eyes lock forward,
not in haste, but in purpose,
as the wind hums through feathers
and the horizon bends before him.

Nature’s brush needs no canvas—
it lets its masterpieces soar.
