Alaura O’Dell is a UK-born interdisciplinary artist currently based in Sonoma County, Northern California, where she has been based since 1992. From 1981-1993, she was married to cultural icon, Genesis P-Orridge, and during this period she collaborated and performed with the experimental British music collective Psychic TV. Under the moniker of Mistress Mix, O’Dell was instrumental in developing
the band's original quixotic sound through her approach to audio collaging and DJ technique. In 2016 she received her Master of Fine Arts from California School of Integral Studies. O’Dell has been featured in the groundbreaking RE/Search publications,and published in Shaman Woman, Mainline Lady: Women’s Writings on the Drug Experience, alongside Charlotte Brontë, Louisa May Alcott, Anais Nin, Maya Angelou and Billie Holiday. She was extensively interviewed and featured in Conform to Deform: The Weird & Wonderful World of Some Bizarre. O’Dell was contributing editor to the arts journal, Mission At Tenth Inter-Arts Journal: Volume 7, and has contributed essays to books, art journals, and exhibition catalogs, including Alan Oversby Documentary Evidence: The Exhibition Catalog for Mr.
