I thought I’d found a funny little statue… turns out I’d met the father of Wrocław’s dwarfs. 😂🇵🇱

Meet Papa Krasnal, standing proudly on a giant bronze thumb with the confidence of someone who owns the city.

But behind that cheeky face is a story of resistance. This monument honours the Orange Alternative, a Polish movement that used humour, absurdity and dwarf imagery to challenge communist rule.

Imagine using laughter to stand up to power. Suddenly, this little man feels a lot bigger. ✊🏾

One of my favourite things about travelling: finding stories you’d never discover by simply walking past.
