In 2024, Lina Loi’s ‘Better’ album emerged as a testament to the collaborative synergy between Matt Rhys and Lina Loi, featuring five soul-stirring tracks adorned with Lina Loi’s captivating vocals and poignant lyrics. Zulema Nakinda Cheek’s “Love Again” album, originally released in 2016 and later remixed in 2022, released on NU SOUL, marked another milestone on Matt Rhys musical timeline. Critically acclaimed by Chris Wells of Echoes Magazine in July, 2023, Matt’s musical roots delve deep into the rich tapestry of his upbringing, his parents’ diverse vinyl collection, ranging from Motown classics to the soulful melodies of Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. Armed with a grade 3 in classical piano and tutoring in jazz keyboard, Matt draws inspiration from both the classics and the contemporary.
