A multi-talented artist, Matt Rhys wears the hats of producer, keyboard virtuoso, and songwriter (Composer) with seamless finesse. Hailing from the vibrant backdrop of West London, U.K, Matt Rhys’ sonic creations have resonated across the airwaves of acclaimed stations such as Jazz FM and Solar Radio. His collaborative endeavours with vocal luminaries like Lina Loi and Zulema Nakinda Cheek and als

o Victor Bynoe and Linda Muriel have become a hallmark of his musical journey. In 2024, Lina Loi’s ‘Better’ album emerged as a testament to the collaborative synergy between Matt Rhys and Lina Loi, featuring five soul-stirring tracks adorned with Lina Loi’s captivating vocals and poignant lyrics. Zulema Nakinda Cheek’s “Love Again” album, originally released in 2016 and later remixed in 2022, released on NU SOUL, marked another milestone on Matt Rhys musical timeline. Critically acclaimed by Chris Wells of Echoes Magazine in July, 2023, Matt’s musical roots delve deep into the rich tapestry of his upbringing, his parents’ diverse vinyl collection, ranging from Motown classics to the soulful melodies of Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. Became the fertile ground from which his musical sensibilities blossomed. Inspired by a myriad of vocalists, writers, and performers, Matt Rhys’ artistic journey took a unique turn when he was diagnosed with autism in 2012, a graduated of UCA that same year, Matt’s early collaborations with independent artists from overseas during his student days hinted at the global reach of his artistic endeavours. However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges, as his debut album faced an unfortunate cancellation due to the lack of promotion from the label. Armed with a grade 3 in classical piano and tutoring in jazz keyboard, Matt draws inspiration from both the classics and the contemporary. His musical palette seamlessly weaves together influences from old school legends and new school innovators. As the musical saga unfolds, be on the lookout for new music, that showcases the evolution of Matt’s sonic explorations, that serves as a testament to the timeless allure of Matt Rhys’ musical odyssey.
