Echo is proud to see Harry Lighton’s ‘PILLION’ and Oliver Hermanus' ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ premiering in the UK this Saturday (18th October) at the 69th BFI London Film Festival.

Showcasing work by echo’s Hair + Make-Up Designer Diandra Ferreira and Production Designer Francesca Massariol, ‘PILLION’ stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling exploring power dynamics, intimacy and identity.

Starring Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor, and featuring Costume Supervision (UK) by echo’s Paix Robinson, ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ is a story about closeted love, music, passion and remembrance.

In May, these incredibly moving LGBTQ+ romance films made their successful run at the Cannes Film Festival, where ‘PILLION’ won the Un Certain Regard Award for Best Screenplay and ‘THE HISTORY OF SOUND’ was nominated for the Palme d'Or. Now, we are thrilled for them to make their UK debut tomorrow at London’s Southbank Centre as part of LFF’s ‘Headline Galas’ category.

We wish everyone involved in the projects the best of luck!

We are so excited that 'LADY' and 'RETREAT' will be screening tonight as part of the 69th London Film Festival at the BFI Southbank and the Prince Charles!

'LADY' is a satirical mockumentary, shot entirely at Somerleyton Hall in Suffolk, starring Fleabag’s Sian Clifford as a self-obsessed aristocrat whose quest for attention takes a supernatural turn when she literally begins to vanish. Cinematography by echo’s Korsshan Schlauer, Production Design by Agnieszka Debska, and Editing by echo’s Josh Mallalieu.

'RETREAT' features Production Design by echo's Elena Muntoni! Produced by The Fold, 104 Films and BBC Films, and starring Anne Zander and James Boyle. The feature is set in an isolated deaf community, where cracks begin to appear in Matt’s (Boyle) seemingly idyllic world when the arrival of enigmatic outsider Eva (Zander) forces him to question the realities of his identity.

'BLUE MOON', directed by Richard Linklater and shot by his long-time collaborator, Director of Photography echo’s Shane Kelly, premieres today at the BFI London Film Festival as part of the Gala presentations.

Reuniting Linklater and Ethan Hawke, the film offers a witty and heartfelt portrait of lyricist Lorenz Hart, who on the opening night of Oklahoma! reflects on his past partnership with Richard Rodgers and the changing world of musical theatre.

Having premiered earlier this year at the Berlin Film Festival, BLUE MOON is a beautifully crafted tale full of humour, heartbreak, and warmth.

As the London Film Festival continues, we’ve been discovering more standout titles that showcase the diversity of voices shaping contemporary cinema.

One that particularly resonated with us is ‘MY FATHER’S SHADOW’ , the debut feature from Akinola Davies Jr, screening in the First Feature Competition and recently announced as the UK’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards. Set in Lagos, the film follows two brothers spending a rare day with their father, Fola (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù), as they begin to understand him and the sacrifices he has made, all against the backdrop of Nigeria’s presidential election.

‘MY FATHER’S SHADOW’ is an intimate portrait of family, legacy, and the quiet moments that define understanding.

Following an inspiring week at the London Film Festival, we continued exploring the programme and discovered more standout films that capture the talent showcased across the festival. One title that’s catching our attention right now is 'IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU', directed by Mary Bronstein and starring Rose Byrne.

After premiering at Sundance, the film headed to Berlin – where Byrne received the Silver Bear for Best Actress – the film offers a darkly funny and unflinching look at motherhood on the brink. Byrne plays Linda, a therapist and mother struggling to hold her life together as her child’s mysterious illness and an absent husband push her to the edge, delivering a tense and deeply affecting performance.

There’s plenty more to see, and we can’t wait to dive in.

We had the chance to see an exceptional lineup of films at the London Film Festival last week and left inspired by the creativity and talent on display across the industry. From the screenings we attended, here are three standout films we recommend checking out:

'ALPHA', from director Julia Ducournau, produced by Petit Film. It’s about a 13‑year‑old girl named Alpha who goes home from school with a tattoo, and soon after, her mother fears she may have caught a mysterious virus that’s turning people into marble‑like statues.

'THE BLUE TRAIL' directed by Zineb Wakrim and produced by Desvia Filmes about a young girl who navigates a tense day in Casablanca, quietly observing the world around her as unspoken tensions rise.

'BUGONIA', directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and produced by Element Pictures. Two conspiracy‑obsessed men kidnap a pharmaceutical CEO (played by Emma Stone), believing she is an alien who wants to destroy Earth. What follows is a dark, satirical game of psychological and moral unraveling.

We’re so excited to see what this week has in store for us!

We are so excited that ‘ROSE OF NEVADA’ and Episodes 1 and 2 of ‘THE DEATH OF BUNNY MUNRO’ will be screening tonight as part of the 69th London Film Festival at the BFI Southbank!

Featuring Costume Design by echo’s Jo Thompson, Mark Jenkin’s ‘ROSE OF NEVADA’, centres on a forgotten fishing village where a long-lost boat — the Rose of Nevada — mysteriously returns 30 years after vanishing at sea. The film stars BAFTA nominees George MacKay and Callum Turner and has already appeared at the Venice Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. It will now feature at the LFF as part of the ‘Official Competition’ category.

We are delighted that Episodes 1 and 2 of ‘THE DEATH OF BUNNY MUNRO’ will be premiering at LFF as part of the ‘Special Presentations’ category. Directed by Isabella Eklöf, this 6-part Sky series features work by lots of echo clients: Director of Photography Nadim Carlsen DFF, Production Designer Alexandra Toomey, Costume Designer Holly Rebecca, and Editors Luke Dunkley and John Dwelly.

We’re thrilled that ‘I SWEAR’, directed by Kirk Jones and edited by echo client Sam Sneade, is now in cinemas across the UK.

The film tells the powerful true-life story of Tourette’s Syndrome campaigner John Davidson – a funny, moving, and life-affirming journey from adolescence to adulthood, shining a light on a condition still widely misunderstood.

'I SWEAR' had its sold-out World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, screening in the Centrepiece section, and has already been receiving incredible responses for its honesty, humour, and heart.
