Inspired by the work ‘Autumn Rings Andeuze’ by Terry Frost the project combined our visuals, animation and the music of to capture all of the smooth southern france autumn vibes. Big thanks to Jenny from the Usher Gallery in Lincoln who allowed us to have full creative freedom for this piece and again to Rosa and Steve who brought our illustrations to life! You can view the piece projected onto the walls at the Thursdays-Mondays!

Its time for ! Since moving to Birmingham nearly 4 years ago we’ve realised it’s been our home for over half of Pickle’s existence. We’re often asked why we moved here and not the obvious choice of London. The past 4 years have definitely confirmed our reasons. It’s one of the friendliest cities! Freelance life can often be a lonely one so feeling supported and able to attend creative events is essential, Birmingham Design Festival ticks both of those boxes!

New work! 🎨 Utility boxes designed for Tandem Centre in Colliers wood through . Kindly painted by the talented Inspired by some of their retail offerings and featuring brand colours, the designs celebrate the centre and welcoming customers onto the site with colour and character! ✨🥳👌

✨💬 Had the delight of working with Laura Bell from Manta Ray Communications (https://mantaraycommunications.co.uk/) on some brand illustrations celebrating her PR and marketing company. 🎉

Laura was keen to make the design feel energetic to match the passion she has for her work. The characters in the design represent her values- storytelling, community, experience, enthusiasm and knowledge.

📣Event Announcement! 📣
Come and join us at Create Now event in Birmingham. As well as learning some Adobe skills and doing some local networking, we will be doing a short talk exploring some key things we have learnt in our 6 years of Pickle Illustration. You might learn something, but you will definitely have a lovely evening with some local creative folks! Thanks for the invite, looking forward to it!

Birmingham in colour! 🐂🌈 Had a lot of fun designing this colourful portrayal of brum, showcasing all of its best bits for Public Programme. They’re celebrating 125 years at the so have organised some fantastic events over the next few months to mark its big birthday- head to their socials or website to view the full programme! ⭐️

Brain enhancing mushrooms 🍄
The nature of being freelance is to allow for the ebbs and flows of workload. Whilst in our busy period now, at the start of the year our diaries were a bit clearer than usual. We like to use that time to strengthen our practice and network with potential new clients. Planting the seeds for future collaborations as we like to call it 🌱

Here’s an example of some imaginary coffee packaging Liv created when we had a clearer schedule- inspired by the new craze of brain enhancing mushrooms!

Let’s Go Indie! ⭐️ Had a lot of fun designing this retro games inspired poster this month. It was fab working with fellow midlands based creative Marie from Good Afternoon who we met at (the always great) Spark Lite in Leamington earlier in the year. We love how she thinks the addition of character faces on everything is essential too! 🌟 Eat Out In Moseley Magazine 🌟
Personal Project- Editorial Design
Lauren has, in Pickle Illustration quiet/waiting times, been piecing together a magazine showcasing some local food and drink highlights in the joyous Birmingham suburb of Moseley. It’s been great picking up some editorial designs skills from the folks over on Domestika to help put it together!

Sharing Favourite Project - Creating a unique and alternative Selfie Booth for the Bullring ✨👀

When we were commissioned with creating a take on a now fairly familiar ‘selfie booth’ for we wanted to put something together that felt bespoke to the location, eye-catching and more innovative than the more traditional wings on a wall approach. What do you think?
