Another thing that wasn’t my gig, but I stepped in to provide some specialist coverage for an episode featuring an underwater scuba challenge.
This is launching on Prime in August ‘25.
I have experience with Guardian OTS full face scuba masks - these have mics fitted for comms and audio recording into zaxcom personal recorders.
Working with the dive team and of course cameras and editorial to film topside and underwater.

I had a very small part to play in this epic stunt - I wasn’t involved at all in any of the background or setup (which makes up most of this film) but after a failed first attempt and a reschedule at Goodwood, I happened to be in the right place at the right time (immediately after festival of speed) to cover for the main sound recordist who was no longer available. He’d set things up nicely so I just had to step in and replicate his plan - mic up Kriss and 3 others, take feeds from Redbull Racing comms, crew comms, sync up the various cameras and enjoy the spectacle!!

March ‘25 in the Arctic Circle in Sweden. Filming a team of military veterans competing in a 500km (513 actually but that’s another story) ice ultramarathon. Zaxcom audio coverage all the time, tiny ultra mobile crew adapting to changing schedules, camping out in -20c when needed. Covering the team as they burn candles at both ends to make the finish line in time, while discussing mental health issues along the way.

June 25 was spent in Morocco, Supervising “Off-Rig” audio for returning series multi camera adventure shoot. 15 cameras or so, filming physical challenges, ropes and height stunts and water challenges. One other sound recordist and a sound assist, 20 contributors. 2 series filmed back to back, one for Fox in the US, and another for C4 in the UK.
There’s 2 sides to this show, I head up the adventure element when the contribs leave their gallery controlled rig. We go fully mobile with portable recorders, feeding 20 listeners to crew and editorial team, in the air, on the water, on wheels, or dangling from ropes.

Goodwood Festival of Speed, F1 special for ITV. Following Jackie Stewart from his home into the festival, catching his memories and experience of arriving by air. Helicopter audio rig with comms feed and own mic on headset for ultra clean audio, followed by actuality filming into busy festival site, frequencies licensed via Ofcom.
