You cannot build a godly marriage on a foundation of a woman who doesn’t know who she is. God knows this. That’s why He will shake everything first.

This identity test is one of the most disorienting seasons I ever walked through - when I was 35, single, jobless, and living back with my parents.

And it is also one of the most necessary… because I met my husband 7 months later, and he proposed 4 months after that 💍

Here are 4 signs God is testing you before giving you your husband:

1. Your career identity collapses

The job title you introduced yourself with. The salary that made you feel worthy. The ladder you were climbing to prove something to someone.
When God removes it, the question He is really asking is: who are you without it? If you don’t have an answer, that is exactly why this season is happening.

2. Your social identity shifts

The friend group changes. The invitations stop coming. The version of you that everyone knew starts to feel like a costume you’ve outgrown.
This is refinement. God is separating you from who you were so He can reveal who you actually are.

3. You stop knowing where you belong

The city. The country. The community. Everything that used to feel like home starts to feel unfamiliar.
That disorientation is not a sign that something is wrong… It is a sign that God is expanding your capacity for something bigger than where you’ve been.

4. You stop introducing yourself by what you do

And you start knowing who you are. A daughter of God. A woman of faith. Someone with values, vision and a calling that goes far beyond a job title or relationship status. That knowing is what makes you ready.

It’s not the waiting that breaks most single Christian women…. It is what they do while they wait.

And I say that as a woman who has been on both sides of this.

The hard things are real. The unanswered prayers are real. The empty seat next to you at church is real….

But there is always something harder sitting underneath the obvious pain. And that is the thing most people never talk about

Because it is easier to grieve what has not happened yet than to deal with what is happening inside you right now.

Number 18 is my personal favourite and I dare you not to add it to your plans this summer.

Because glorifying God does not have to look like sitting still in a quiet room. Sometimes it looks like this.

1. Vision board party with scripture anchoring each goal

2. Paint and sip with worship music instead of a regular playlist

3. Water park or outdoor festival as a family or friend group

4. Fish and charcuterie board making with a devotional to open

5. Outdoor picnic with a group Bible study

6. Cooking a meal together from a biblical recipe like unleavened bread or lentil stew

7. Prayer walk around your neighbourhood as a group

8. Game night with Christian card games or Bible trivia

9. Movie night watching a faith based film with discussion questions after

10. Group journaling session with a shared prompt
around faith or identity

11. Pottery or ceramics class as a creative act of worship referencing Jeremiah 18

12. Sunrise or sunset hike ending in group prayer

13. Worship night at someone’s house with acoustic music and candles

14. Group fast followed by a shared meal and testimony
sharing

15. Book club reading a Christian book and discussing over dinner

16. Volunteer day at a food bank or shelter as a group

17. Gratitude jar making where everyone writes what God did that month

18. Attend a Christian worship festival or concert together and let God meet you there

19. A local water lantern festival, drawing scriptures and prayers on the lanterns

20. Create a group worship playlist and spend an afternoon learning the songs together together

➡️ Share with someone you’d glorify God with 💜

If you are in a single season right now, this might be the most important thing you read today....

You have been told to "be patient".

But nobody told you what that word actually means.

In the original Greek the word translated as patience is hupomonē.

It comes from two words. Hypo meaning under. And menō meaning to remain or stay.

So it literally means to remain under.

Not to lie down.
Not to give up.
Not to go quiet and hope something eventually changes.

To stay standing under the weight without running away.

Think of a woman carrying something incredibly heavy.
She does not put it down.
She does not pretend it is not heavy.
She just keeps going.
THAT is hupomonē.

And that is what the Bible is actually asking of you in this season.

James 1:3 says the testing of your faith produces exactly that.

Which means the season that feels like it is breaking you is not a sign God forgot you. It is building something in you that could not be built any other way.

I know because I was that woman at 35.
Jobless. Back at my parents house.
Carrying a weight I did not know how to put down. And choosing every single day to remain under it instead of running.

Seven months later I met my husband.

The wait was not wasted. It was where God built the version of me that my breakthrough required.

And I believe the same is true for you.

I just wanted you to know that today.

3 ways you are accidentally making yourself smaller in your single season.

And why it is keeping the right person further away, not closer.

I did this for years without realising it. I was the loudest person in the room on the outside - and quietly making myself smaller on the inside. Adjusting. Accommodating. Editing the parts of me I thought were too much….

It took losing everything and rebuilding from scratch to understand that the woman God created me to be was never supposed to fit neatly into someone else’s comfort zone.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14

1. You soften your standards to seem less intimidating.

Every time you lower what you actually need in order to seem more agreeable, you are not being humble — you are being dishonest. With him, and with yourself. Your standards are not the reason you are still waiting. They are the blueprint for what you are being prepared to receive.

2. You apologise for having needs.

If asking for consistency, depth, or intentionality feels like too much to ask — that belief did not come from God. A woman who knows her worth does not apologise for requiring to be treated well. She simply expects it, quietly and without negotiation.

3. You are waiting for someone else to decide you are worthy.

If your sense of value rises and falls depending on whether someone is pursuing you, you have outsourced your worth to the wrong source. Worthiness is not something he confirms. It is something God already settled. This season is where you learn to live like it.

The right person will not be overwhelmed by the full version of you 🫶🏽 He will be exactly the one who was made for her.

If this resonated with you, follow for growth in your preparation season ❤️
