When Jony Ive’s design collective, LoveFrom, took on the rebranding of the iconic William Stout Architectural Books in San Francisco, the result was not a thunderous overhaul but something quieter, more reverent—like finding a hand-drawn margin note in a beloved book.

At the heart of this sensitive transformation lies the work of Japanese illustrator Satoshi Hashimoto, whose warm, thoughtful illustrations breathe soul into a visual identity that could only emerge from LoveFrom’s cultivated restraint.

Satoshi Hashimoto was commissioned by DOCOMO BUSINESS, a subsidiary of Japan’s largest mobile network, to design and animate a character for a national commercial promoting their business services.

The brief called for a clean, relatable male office worker—an everyman character with broad appeal.

Satoshi delivered a design that balanced clarity, charm, and accessibility, bringing personality to a familiar role.

The animated spot aired across Japan.

We first discovered Brasseria in Notting Hill during the pandemic, and it quickly became one of our favourite go-to spots in London. It’s one of those warm and inviting places where you can relax for hours, enjoying great food, wine, and chatting an afternoon away.

So when the reached out to collaborate with on new visuals, of course, we were thrilled to say... YES!

And here they are, crafted in the same spirit as Brasseria. Simone’s work beautifully captures both character and elegance.
