The BAFTA-winning team behind the documentary ‘Gaza: Doctors Under Attack’ criticised the BBC after the broadcaster shelved the film over “partiality” concerns, before it was later aired on Channel 4.

Accepting the award for Current Affairs at the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards, executive producer Ben de Pear publicly questioned the BBC’s decision to drop the documentary, while journalist Ramita Navai told the audience: “We refuse to be silenced and censored.”

Later reports said that parts of the acceptance speech were edited out of the BBC’s delayed broadcast of the ceremony.

Every year on 15 May, Palestinians around the world remember the Nakba, meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic, marking the displacement of Palestinians and destruction of Palestinian communities during the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.

In Gaza, the West Bank, refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, and diaspora communities across the world, many Palestinians still carry keys, photographs, and memories of villages and homes lost in 1948, with these stories being passed down through generations so that these histories are never forgotten.
