A590 & M6. Concerns raised by other drivers about the standard of driving from a car on the A590 travelling towards Kendal from Ulverston. Kendal based officers located the vehicle and conducted a stop check. The driver subsequently failed a roadside drugs test and was arrested. A small quantity of controlled drugs were located inside the car when it was searched.

Fi****ms Support Unit conduct a random check on a vehicle which had been travelling on the M6. The driver failed the roadside drugs test, was arrested and taken to Custody at Kendal Police Station.

Both drivers have been required to provide samples of blood for evidential analysis. If drug levels are found to be above the threshold for prosecution they can expect to be summonsed to the Magistrates Court and disqualified from driving just as a drink driver would.

Officers across our Neighbourhood, Patrol, Roads Policing and Fi****ms Support Unit are all trained to undertake roadside tests for drugs and alcohol and these test take place day and night.

The female of this car has been arrested following a 20 minute pursuit this morning 🚗💨

The car was reported by a member of the public as swerving all over the road near Ballygawley, and was sighted by officers from Dungannon. The driver then failed to stop and she was pursued to the Dungannon Road in Portadown. Tactics were used to box her in.

She has been arrested for a number of offences 🧑‍⚖️

The driver had no regard for anyone else on the roads. We will continue to stop people like this from putting everyone else at risk.

TVP unmarked patrol was focusing on the M40 J5-1 due to a rise in collisions and dealt with the following offences yesterday:

5 x Excess speed (all in excess of 90mph)
One motorist even flashed the police car to move out of lane four (despite being mid overtake) and then proceeded to be recorded at 90mph. They will receive three points and £100 fine.

4 x Careless driving
Two of the offences involved middle lane hogging, causing an inconvenience to others. These drivers will be offered education courses.

1 x Driving without insurance
The motorist had let their policy lapse. Reported for the offence and now face six points and a £300 fine.

(All drivers were breath tested and no traces of alcohol were identified, which is good news).

What’s wrong in this picture? A vehicle parked over a fire hydrant and it's illegal!

Recently, this exact situation delayed Lancashire Frie crews in Lancaster and prevented firefighters from securing a water supply straight away during an emergency.

It’s not just inconsiderate parking, it’s illegal.

Under the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 (Section 42), parking over a hydrant can lead to a fine of up to £500. Fire services are also authorised to move obstructing vehicles, which may include breaking a window to release the handbrake if necessary.

✓ Keep hydrants visible and accessible
✓ Never park on or near hydrant markings. Every second counts and your actions can save lives.

A kind reminder that driving with a windscreen in this condition is an offence. The excuse of "but I can see from my side of the car" is not acceptable 👀

The vehicle was stopped by SP Casualty Reduction in Guildford yesterday morning whereby the driver was issued a ticket and swiftly cleared the remainder of their windscreen before continuing their journey.

Please ensure that your vehicle is in a suitable condition before being driven, particularly during the upcoming winter months.

Not a good way to end the year. Merseyside RPU with fatal5 patrols and here’s just a snippet of offences committed. Hopefully motorists will start 2026 safe and lawful and help keep all road users free from unnecessary risk.
