Skin Deep is a multimedia platform that amplifies voices of colour through the discussion of race and culture. Skin Deep is a counter movement to the way in which culture is often simultaneously racialised and depoliticised in the mainstream. Our aim is to curate a space in which a diverse range of heritages, tastes, styles, stories, sounds, traditions and imaginings can be explored both creatively and politically.

🎨 CREATIVE STUDIO CALL-OUT 🎨

We’re looking for a creative studio/collective who can lead on the vision and design of our special ten-year Skin Deep print anthology issue.

You will be collaborating with the editorial team to bring the Skin Deep archives to life in a way that pays homage to the past while forging new creative paths, weaving together concept, content and aesthetic to produce a beautiful and accessible print.

🧩 PLAYTIME WITH SKIN DEEP 🎲

Word on the street is that we are bringing play & imagination to the Talks Tent next Friday 16th August, 2.30pm ⛺️

We’ll be joined by Hwa Young Jung, Hadiru Mahdi , Sylvia Suli , & for a juicy discussion on how play and imagination are critical to world-building, and go hand in hand with racial justice and liberation work.

Now more than ever, we have to be able to dream up new systems and ways of being while living in a world that actively diminishes our capacity to think beyond crisis and survival.

Skin Deep are joining the global strike for Palestine today Friday 20th Oct 🇵🇸 Together with artists and other organisations we will be re-investing our time and labour into acts that support Palestinian resistance. We encourage you to join in solidarity, in the fight to end apartheid and colonial violence.

Come to the march for Palestine this Saturday in London!

Want to show up but don't have anyone to go with? Or just want some friendly faces to walk alongside for support? Meet us near the start of the march and we can go together! DM us your number and we will add you to a temporary private, broadcast-only WhatsApp group - we will share the time and place to meet on there. We will also share important information for keeping safe at protests. Hopefully we will have some spare signs to share around as well!

This is an informal thing and anyone is welcome. Whether or not you’ve met Skin Deep before, attended a protest before, or supported Palestinian liberation before, you are welcome. Every body, every voice, every step, every shout matters. None of us are free until all of us are free. See you there ❤️
