SOMM Recordings marks the 150th Anniversary of the great French-American conductor Pierre Monteux (1875–1964) with his live performances of Claude Debussy’s Images pour orchestre and Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms.These 1961 broadcasts, featuring the BBC Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, have been superbly remastered by Lani Spahr, whose critically acclaimed audio restorations for SOMM have received high praise from Gramophone, BBC Radio 3, and The Sunday Times, amongst many others.

While Monteux was born 150 years ago this past April, his death came 61 years ago—still within the lifetime of many present-day music lovers. He was, therefore, a link with the musical past, and enjoyed professional relationships with both the composers on this recording.

Only two days before my Cd recording conducting the wonderful with great soloists (.sariel , .romic & Sarah Fox).
The Cd (to be released by next February 2026) will include my Mandolin concerto op. 97, Oboe concerto op.99 and Shakespeare Songs op. 101.

Julieth Lozano Rolong and João Araújo's new Alma: Ibero-American Songs release is in Gramophone's list of “five new classical albums to hear this week”!

“Julieth Lozano Rolong won the Kiri Te Kanawa Audience Prize at the 2023 Cardiff Singer of the World and this is her debut album. It features songs in Spanish and Portuguese from seven different countries, some famous like Sanjuán’s ‘Clavelitos’ and María Grever’s ‘Te quiero dijiste’, and some very rarely heard. João Araújo is the pianist and the recording was made in Manchester’s Stoller Hall.”

“I was impressed by the playing by cellist Alexander Baillie and pianist John Thwaites. They give a convincing and committed account of these notable works. They capture the wide variety of moods and shifting colours of the music. The disc is enhanced by an outstanding recording John Thwaites’s liner notes give an acceptable introduction to the repertoire. Much of the text is devoted to exploring the orchestral tone poem, Spring Fire, and tends to give less detail/analysis about the actual music here. Résumés of the performers are included. This is a splendid addition to Bax’s discography. It will certainly become my go-to version for these remarkable works. …” —John France
