📢 What are we asking Latin American policymakers to do?

The JusticIA campaign believes in three essential principles:

1️⃣ Respect copyright & creative rights
Copyright is the backbone of the creative economy.
The unauthorized AI use harms artists and culture. Latin creators lead globally — they deserve protection, not exploitation.

2️⃣AI is powerful tool – and should not be seen as a replacement.

AI offers creative potential but needs safeguards. Creative industries are already using AI to innovate ethically so free market licensing agreements can benefit both sides.

3️⃣ Transparency is essential
AI developers must disclose what material was used and rightsholders must have access to verify usage.

IFPI Chief Executive Victoria Oakley at All About Music in Mumbai today.

In a keynote speech to industry leaders, Oakley praised India’s rich and diverse musical heritage, from classical traditions to Punjabi folk, filmi soundtracks and Indian pop - and its global prominence.

She also highlighted the transformative role of streaming, social media and digital distribution, which have made music more accessible than ever. But she warned that growth must be sustainable, pointing to the misuse of generative AI, streaming fraud, and the fact that just 20 million of India’s 192 million streaming users pay for subscriptions.

“These risks are real,” she said. “Music has worth, and paying for it sustains the artists and cultures we love. The decisions we make now will shape the next decade of music.”

Artists from across Europe have come together to call on EU policymakers to . They stand together in the belief that the AI Act must deliver on three essential principles:

1️⃣ Protect copyright & innovation
To be able to create, creators must have rights to keep control of how their work is used and be remunerated for such use.

2️⃣Ensure transparency
AI systems that use creative work must be transparent and comply with existing copyright rules.

3️⃣ Grow together
The EU should foster an environment where the creative market and AI can both thrive.
