This month, a new series of 30-minute mindfulness meditation sessions begins with international barrister and meditation teacher, Gillian Higgins.

Each session consists of an introduction to mindfulness, a guided meditation and suggested post-session links to further your practice.

A great way to start your week and build your mindfulness practice.

Everyone welcome. No previous experience is necessary.

Gillian is a leading international criminal barrister and meditation teacher, accredited by The British School of Meditation. She is Head of the International Practice Group at 9BR Chambers.

Gillian established "Practical Meditation" in 2016 and is passionate about using meditation practically in the workplace to reduce stress. For the past 8 years, she has designed and developed presentations, workshops, and courses for a broad range of legal institutions and bodies including The International Criminal Court, Gray’s Inn, Women in Criminal Law, The Criminal Bar Association, The South-Eastern Circuit, civil and commercial chambers, Barclays Bank and JPM Chase. Gillian is the author of Mindfulness at Work and Home and a Champion of LawCare.

Practical Meditation

I am an international barrister and meditation teacher. I set up Practical Meditation in 2016 and qualified as a meditation teacher with the British School of Meditation in the same year. Practical Meditation offers simple mindfulness meditation guidance and practices that can be used at home and in the workplace to help restore a sense of balance. Practical Meditation's Online School provides a selection of short online courses to help build a mindfulness meditation practice. The blog contains practice advice on how to build your practice. I have been meditating for several years and am passionate about using meditation in the workplace. Last year, I designed and led meditation sessions for barristers, solicitors, mediators and accountants in and around London. My first book "The Short Guide to Mindfulness Meditation" will be published in June 2018. In 2017, I set up The Mindful Kitchen Company with Miranda Gore Browne, a finalist on the first series of BBC2's "The Great British Bake Off". Together we invite people to "bake, cook, breathe and eat" at The Kitchen School in West Sussex or on location. Our events provide people with the opportunity to bake together and learn simple meditation practices that can be used to enhance wellbeing and reduce stress in the home, the workplace and beyond.
