Lastly, it is a absolute privilege to announce that the winner of the 2025 Poetry London Prize is Rachel Curzon for her poem ‘There are enough poems about birds, and here is another one’. Our judge said: “Beautifully written, bittersweet and deeply affecting, this poem is a miracle. It turns out that we did really need another poem about birds, ‘quite urgently.’”

More congratulations for Hélène Demetriades awarded 2nd Place for her poem ‘Hiding Place’. Our judge said: “In these dark times, when even poems don’t seem up to the task of bearing witness to the daily horrors, this poem so cleverly and boldly exposes the layers of avoidance, trauma and denial we cycle through in an effort to somehow cope with this reality.”

First off - our warmest congratulations to Clara-Læïla Laudette () who has been awarded 3rd Place for her poem ‘Things about myself I’d rather not know’. Our judge said: “This is a poem for our times, for our scattered attentions and the stress of living in an increasingly virtual world that germinates loneliness on a mass scale.”

Announcing the third edition of the PL Pamphlet Prize! The winner will receive £250, publication of their pamphlet with Poetry London Editions, and ten author copies of the work.

This year’s judge is . Andrew McMillan is the author of three collections of poetry, physical, playtime and pandemonium, a novel, Pity, and the co-editor of the anthology 100 Q***r Poems. He lives in Manchester

Entry costs are £20 per pamphlet, or £10 per pamphlet for current subscribers. Please only submit 24 pages of poetry. Find out more and enter at the link in our bio.

Join Poetry London at the Free Verse Poetry Book and Magazine Fair tomorrow, St Columba's Church Of Scotland, Knightbridge, from 11am (quiet hour) or 12-6pm. Stay on for the readings afterwards. There is a very interesting panel on polylingual poetry before the fair at 10.15, with the National Poetry Competition winner, translators and publishers.
