A wonderful bunch of engaged curious kids with great questions and a real thirst for learning more.

They really enjoyed hearing from our guest Maz and ambassador for who shared his inspiring story of receiving a new kidney.

As the moon continues its journey, we are reminded that as Muslims, we live by a lunar calendar — a calendar filled with meaning, mercy, and moments of worship.

🕌 Tomorrow is the Day of Ashura, a powerful and blessed day in the sacred month of Muharram.

Long ago, Allah helped Prophet Musa عليه السلام by parting the sea, saving him and his people from danger. 🌊✨ This miracle teaches us — and our children — that Allah can do absolutely anything. If He could split the sea for Musa, He can open unimaginable paths for us too.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would fast on this day out of gratitude, and we’re encouraged to do the same. Fasting on Ashura wipes away the sins of the past year — what an amazing gift!

But the blessings don’t end here…
🌕 The White Days (13th, 14th, 15th of Muharram) are also approaching (Tues to Thurs next week in sha Allah) — another beautiful chance to fast and earn reward. As we know, Muharram is a sacred month, and these days carry great significance.

Let’s revive these Sunnahs.

Let’s teach our little ones to appreciate the beauty of following the moon.

With the sighting of the new moon, we’re reminded that life, like the moon, moves through many phases. Some bring ease and blessings, others bring trials and tests, Alhamdulillah for them all.

As we enter this new Islamic year 1447 AH, we ask Allah ﷻ for peace across the Ummah, we ask that Allah ends the suffering in Palestine, Sudan, Kashmir, Congo and all places enduring hardship, Ameen

We ask for strength and courage and hearts that remain grateful through it all. May this be a year of sincere servitude and nearness to Him, Ameen 🤲🏼

Though Ramadan and Dhul Hijjah have passed, this blessed month of Muharram is one of the four sacred months, and it too carries immense reward.

✨ The Day of ‘Ashura (10th Muharram) is a day not to be missed - fasting on this day expiates the sins of the past year. The Sunnah is also to fast the 9th or 11th along with the 10th, which this year falls on:

Ashura: 6th July 2025

May we begin this year with intention and hope, Ameen

We are extremely excited to bring back our Instagram live series with a special guest who has such an incredible story of her own.

Jan Shorrock, is the Give a Kidney Executive Officer and spokesperson for the Robert Dangoor Partnership for Living Kidney Donation.

But as if that wasn’t enough, Jan also donated a kidney in 2013 to an unknown recipient after hearing about living kidney donation on the radio.

Following her donation, she wanted help raise awareness and inform people that it is possible to donate in this way, and that’s how she became involved with the charity (www.giveakidney.org), one of the charity partners of the Robert Dangoor Partnership for Living Kidney Donation.

Who’s your hero? 💫

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of joining the Stretford Muslim Scouts in Manchester for a beautiful storytelling session and workshop! 📚✨

Before diving into the story “A Different Kind of Hero,” we explored a big question with the children:

👉 What makes someone a hero?
Is it superpowers… or something closer to home?

When we asked who their heroes were, many sweetly said, “My mum!” 💖 (Shoutout to all the amazing mums — you’re seen and appreciated!)

But one young girl gave an answer that stopped us in our tracks:

“The Prophet Muhammad (saw), because he was sent as the Best of Mankind.”

What a powerful reminder. 🌙

Moments like these show us that faith isn’t something separate — it’s woven into every part of our lives. Whether we’re talking about kindness, courage, or even kidney health and organ donation, Islam gives us the values that guide our choices.

At the end of the story, we reflect on this verse from the Qur’an:

“Whoever saves a life, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.” (Qur’an 5:32)

Even something like learning about kidney function can connect back to our deen — because Islam isn’t just a belief, it’s a way of life. 🌱

We’re so grateful to these children for reminding us of what truly matters — while we’re busy teaching, they’re teaching us too. 💛

Our Kidney Function Workshops are heading to Birmingham and we’re looking for diverse schools, community groups, scouts groups or home education groups that might be interested.

The children will learn all about living kidney donation through our brand new book “A Different Kind of Hero” and then embark on an interactive voyage to learn all about how our kidneys work.

The sessions include

✨ Practical STEM activities
✨ A kidney filtration experiment
✨ Immersive virtual reality experience inside the human body
✨ Storytelling with a real life hero 💞
✨ A free copy of the book for each family
