Taking Systems Engineering to Scotland.

Last week, the HOTCAM Scotland team made the trip to London for several days of intensive training focused on broadcast systems, fixed rig, and audio engineering.

As the demand for high-quality production services grows, we believe it’s essential for Scottish productions to have access to local, cutting-edge solutions without relying solely on London-based facilities. Behind the Scenes of Six Nations: Full Contact for Netflix

Last year, we supported Six Nations: Full Contact for Netflix, capturing all the rugby action across 15 matches in Europe.

Our team provided full technical project management, with RED and Sony kits for long-lens cine sports, FX3 mini cams, and pitch-side RF monitoring, ensuring every intense moment was covered with precision.

We will soon be bidding farewell to our in-house Camera Assistant, Kate, as she embarks on her freelance career.

A keen theatre lover; she often visits as an audience member in her spare time but through her work her work with Hotcam she has provided her camera assistant skills to shows across the west end.

With a background in drama, she's brought a thorough and detailed methodology to her preps. We highly recommend.

As a (very) proud northerner, Kate has made a name for herself at Hotcam for her unshakable attitude toward the weather. No matter the forecast, she’ll be wearing shorts and have cup of tea in hand.

We look forward to supporting Kate on her journey.

HOTCAM worked closely with production company Dragonfly as the technical partner for the seventh series of acclaimed documentary series, Surgeons: At the Edge of Life, set to release on BBC Two and iPlayer on 26th February 2025 at 9:00 pm, and on 3rd March 2025 at 9pm on BBC Scotland.

Tasked with capturing the intricate and groundbreaking work of surgeons in action, HOTCAM Glasgow provided state-of-the-art equipment, bespoke infrastructure, and expert crew to support filming across three hospitals: NHS Lothian’s The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital and St. John's Hospital.

From pre-production through to delivery, HOTCAM provided a full technical crew including dedicated Projects Manager Charlotte McVey, Technical Manager John Battersby and Camera Assistant Sam Matheson, who worked closely with the hospitals, production staff, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations in the sensitive and challenging hospital environment. The team led the design, build, implantation and de-rig across all operations as well as the logistics, ensuring equipment was at each location when it was needed.
