My hot take why i’ve been historically bad with money: i’ve never been a high earner & always overspent. Because i’m so Type A and need to finish a task properly and in full, but can’t do that with debt because i didn’t earn enough to, i ignored my shortcomings entirely, buried my head in the sand & ultimately made things worse? Idk, what do you think? And go check out my post about being Type A because i couldn’t be further from this with everything else in my life

☀️ Summer Bump Dump ☀️ A season of resting, organising, embracing change & waiting on September because that means… IT’S BABY MONTH 😱 It’s also been the strangest year of my life. Pregnancy is a wild, unexpected, constantly changing series of loops that have well & truly turned my world upside down. I am seriously excited for the ‘ber months. Not just because they are always my favourite, but because I’ll have an extra bundle to snuggle with 🧡

💐 My very casual, very low-key, ‘please don’t look at me’ baby shower.

For someone who posts openly online, I physically HATE being at the center of anything (even walking down the aisle on my wedding day i forewarned everyone to please not turn around & look at me 😂🫣)

I wasn’t going to have a baby shower, by 33 I’ve thrown 5 of them and been to at least 20 of them.
Then my bff said something I couldn’t shake: ‘you only regret the things you don’t do’ 😑 that riddled me with guilt & there I was 24hours later sending out a FB event invite.

You’ll notice I haven’t added a ‘total’ slide because I don’t want to think about it & that’s just how I cope 🙈 But despite the food & drink I think it was very reasonable. I don’t host a lot so grossly underestimated the cost of a big food shop & the spending that much on alcohol without having a drop is cruel 🤣

Overall I’m glad I had a baby shower. I am a super control freak so throwing it myself was always going to be the only way (with LOTS of help from loved ones) & now I can look back on photos of me with my nearest & dearest and bump and think of the genuinely happy, relaxed day it was 💐

💳 Debt Update End of August 2026: Realising paying off debt is a slow and sometimes frustrating process (i knew this already but some months it hits home that just because i WANT to clear this quickly, doesn’t mean I can) I’m choosing to focus on the fact the number is coming down, not going up. So even if it’s slow progress it’s still moving the needle in the right direction 🙌🏻 Mat leave starts in a couple weeks and I am not looking forward to how Maternity Allowance is going affect my ability repay/overpay as much as I’d like 😭 the time to really practice my budgeting & learn as much money making side gigs starts now 💪🏼
