At our Oceans & Rivers event last month, we were delighted to host a pop-up exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society by author and artist Beatrice Forshall , whose beautiful engravings, made using an intaglio press, attest to the wonders of marine life, from whales and plankton to turtles and sea birds 🌊

For our summer 5x15 event, we are thrilled to welcome tech pioneer De Kai , one of the inventors of Google Translate.

De Kai’s new book Raising AI: An Essential Guide to Parenting Our Future draws on his decades of experience working at the nexus of tech and society, and explores how AI is changing how we think. We can survive the AI revolution, he argues, if we can create a more compassionate and understanding world. Don’t miss this eye-opening and inspiring insight into the future.

Following the runaway success of The Earth Convention over the last five years, 5x15 and Greenbank are delighted to bring the series to a live audience for the first time!

Join us next week at the Royal Geographical Society  where we will be asking the big questions with a line-up of leading environmental thinkers and writers.

Our first session, Energy and Finance, invites a stellar panel of speakers to reflect on the future of energy, including world-leading historian  author of The Earth Transformed; esteemed writer and researcher  Mike Berners-Lee; Stewardship & Engagement Lead, Sophie Lawrence; and natural capital expert  Siddarth Shrikanth.
Whether it’s fossil fuels or renewables, every year we use more and more energy. Can the planet survive this? Are current energy usage levels out of line with a net zero future? These are some of the biggest questions of our time.
Join us next week to find out more. Tickets and information at www.5x15.com

How can we be better citizens of the planet, now and in the future?

Over the last 500 years, innovations in agriculture and natural resources have changed life on Earth, and increased the life chances of billions of people.

Yet every technological innovation has also empowered humans to exploit each other and the planet.

As the consequences of climate change become clearer each day, it has never been more urgent to change our ways.

Join us this evening to hear acclaimed Yale Professor Sunil Amrith, author of the groundbreaking new book THE BURNING EARTH, in conversation with John Vaillant, author of the award-winning FIRE WEATHER.

Wednesday 11th December, 7pm (GMT), online via Zoom

5x15 stories

In 2010 5x15 launched in London’s Notting Hill Gate at the community theatre, the Tabernacle. It was a simple idea: an evening of inspiration where 5 speakers each have 15 minutes to tell their tale of inspiration. 8 years later and 5x15 has been to Marrakech, New York, Vancouver, Mumbai, Washington, Venice and many more cities beside, hosted over 600 outstanding speakers and more than 250 events. Some of the world’s most innovative and exciting thinkers, including Ben Okri, Malcolm Gladwell, Gloria Steinem, Jonathan Franzan and Salman Rushdie, have shared their ideas with our audiences. Join us for a live event to experience 5x15 for yourself, or listen to our podcast (now with over 150,000 listens) and our Youtube channel (with nearly 500,000 views!) And in Bristol or Milan there are vibrant franchises running on a regular basis. 5x15 has always been about a community of people coming together to talk, listen, share ideas and we hope you will visit us soon.
