🌞 Building Brighter Futures — One Day at a Time 🐘🐅🦍

We believe that every young person deserves experiences that help them become well-rounded individuals — not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Last month, Oasis Isle of Sheppey took 10 brilliant young people from The Red Door youth club on a summer holiday trip to Howlett’s Zoo in Kent — made possible thanks to our partners at Meals and More🙌

From sunny skies and delicious food to awe-inspiring elephants, tigers, and gorillas, the day was filled with joy, curiosity, and connection. It was more than just a trip — it was a celebration of growth, belonging, and the power of community.

Before heading home, each young person received their Oasis Stars for Success Leadership award 🌟 — recognising their journey and achievements over the past year. One young person even proudly showcased all their Oasis merch (see photo!) 💥

What actually is pedagogy? 🙋

The word comes from the Greek paidagōgos meaning a servant who led children to school.

That’s the heart of true pedagogy: leading children into learning — not just delivering content.

There’s no point tampering with the curriculum if we’re not also transforming how we teach. We must meet children where they are, and lead them in ways that make sense to them.

This is a big task. A radical task. But a necessary one if we want to build a world where there is NO ONE LEFT OUT.

Leading strategic development (e.g. comms, income generation, MEL)
Planning, resource and coordinate the community plan, measuring impact.
Working closely with the academy safeguarding team on Early Help and family support.

🎶 Education doesn’t stop at the classroom door. 🎶

Some of our Oasis Community Learning students from Oasis Academy South Bank had an unforgettable experience at the Royal Albert Hall, thanks to generously donated tickets from Reed Specialist Recruitment (thank you!).

The performance completely captivated them—bringing to life the instruments and musical concepts they’ve been learning about this year. Opportunities like this are vital. They broaden horizons and contribute to the holistic development of our young people.

It's our belief that real transformation happens not just in the classroom, but also beyond it.

For over forty years, this insight has shaped everything we do at Oasis.

💡 Love is the key to transformation.

All behaviour is communication. When someone acts out, it’s often a signal — not of defiance, but of unmet needs.

So instead of asking “What’s wrong with you?”, we ask “What’s happened to you?” And more often than not, the answer points to a lack of love.

At Oasis, we work with communities across the country hardest hit by poverty—and we see every day how one trusted adult can change a young person’s life.

In our latest article, Taylor Aigner, one of our dedicated Youth Support Practitioners, shares powerful stories of transformation:

💬 Tarah, who once called herself a “bad child,” now understands she’s a reactive child shaped by trauma—not defined by it.
