Just landed! We have a limited amount of these two new incredible releases by Rise Above Relics available in the shop as of today. Anybody who ordered diehard edition via Rise Above website will be receiving their copies in the mail imminently.

“Yeah Man, It’s Bloody Heavy” is an uncompromising compilation featuring 10 unknown and unheard UK bands from the late 60s/early 70s underground heavy rock scene, only one of which had anything that could be remotely considered as a commercial release at the time. The others are demo only artists and make their debut vinyl appearances here. In a nutshell, the bands collected here are to be considered the ‘true sons of Sabbath’. But also much more than that! Comes with a killer booklet too.

Julian Jay Savarin - Beyond The Outer Mirr. What an amazing discovery. Technically third album by Julian’s Treatment, recorded in 1974 and never released until now! Also comes with a fantastic booklet.

RIP to the splendid chap, also known as Justin Stoplar. Owning a record shop will never be the same, without his regular visits. Always friendly, witty and well meaning. He managed to pull some serious gems and rarities out of the hat on many occasions, leaving me thinking “where the hell did you find that?”. It’s a big, shock and very sad. Condolences to all of Justin’s family and friends.

Jackson Heights - The Fifth Avenue Bus. Vertigo UK LP 1972. 6360 067.

In the mad world of collecting UK Vertigo Swirl’s, this album (whilst pleasant enough in its own right) is not top of the wants list, that’s for sure. But for the completist, trying to find one in such perfect condition, with undamaged (this one appears unopened) ‘gimmix bus door’, is nothing less than an ongoing, seemingly impossible trial. It took me ten years of multiple upgrades (most of which were described as NM) to eventually find one like this for myself.

So, if you are in need of a final upgrade to add to your pristine Vertigo collection, this copy is definitely for you.

If , however, you find this kind of thing incredibly tedious, please accept my apologies: I can also understand why. Put it down to some kind of illness and move on.

Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day. Philips LP UK 1970. 6308 019.

A lovely copy of this beautiful album, which is a genuine artefact of its time. Though, it has to be said, is generally a marmite LP that is a torturous listening experience for some, whilst considered to be an artistic masterpiece by others. It’s so delicate and gentle, it can actually make some people angry, just by discussing it. In a nutshell, some people get it, others don’t. Personally, I adore it.
