♥️🇧🇩 Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from international cricket. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, he stated, "I have been away from international cricket for a long time. That distance will remain. My chapter in international cricket is over. I have been thinking about this for a long time."
Tamim's decision comes after a distinguished career spanning over 15 years, during which he became Bangladesh's leading run-scorer in ODIs, amassing more than 8,000 runs in 243 matches. He also scored 5,134 runs in 70 Test matches and 1,758 runs in 78 T20Is.
This is not the first time Tamim has announced his retirement. In July 2023, he declared his departure from international cricket but reversed his decision within 24 hours following discussions with Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In his recent statement, Tamim mentioned that Bangladesh's captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, had requested him to return to the team. However, he chose to follow his own judgment, stating, "I have listened to my own heart."
Tamim's retirement marks the end of an era for Bangladesh cricket, as he leaves behind a legacy as one of the nation's most prolific and influential batsmen.
