Lambeth Council urgently needs more foster carers to give children that come into our care the love and support they deserve.
Fostering means looking after someone else’s child because their birth family are unable to. Your role as a carer will be to look after children in a loving home environment as if they are your own. These care arrangements can be short-term, or for the long run.
The council provides excellent support - with training, a social worker available 24-hours a day and paid respite. The council also offers a £500 bonus payment for successful Lambeth foster carer referrals, as well as a full rebate of your council tax when you’re actively fostering for us.
Foster carers need to be sensitive to the challenges the children face after being separated from their families, and also any trauma they may have been through, which could include abuse or neglect.
The journey to becoming a foster carer for Lambeth takes six months – and this process helps new foster carers fully understand the commitment and prepare themselves.
