Mario Kart Arcade GP contains unused early character portraits that come in "normal" and "hurt" variations. Curiously, Toad's "hurt" portrait is identical to his normal one, making him appear to either be unbothered or particularly good at hiding his emotions. 😂

Super Mario Sunshine is the only 3D Mario platformer in which Mario gets tired of hanging from a ledge. After 17 seconds of holding on, he will start shaking uncontrollably, and let go 3 seconds later. In the other platformers, he can hang from ledges indefinitely without issue. 🤔

In Super Mario Bros., Super Mushrooms and Fire Flowers are actually the same object for the purposes of powering up Mario, with a Super Mushroom being able to turn him into Fire Mario. The game simply hides this by not spawning any Super Mushrooms when Mario is already Super. 😲

Obscure "we don't have your language" screen that appears in Luigi's Mansion (EU) if the GameCube is set to Dutch. For every other language, the game automatically sets itself to the system language, with Dutch being the only one for which it is forced to offer a different one. 🤔

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) contained an unused cutscene of Luigi obtaining a mysterious glowing asterisk. While neither the cutscene nor the asterisk are used in Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, the same scene was remastered and is once again found unused in the files. 🤔

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam revolves around the interaction of "3D" characters from the "real" Mushroom Kingdom with flat paper characters. Ironically, internally they are implemented as the opposite, with the 2D characters being 3D models and the 3D characters being 2D sprites. 😂

In most Mario games, Donut Blocks are semisolid and cannot harm Mario by falling on him. However, in Super Mario 64, they squish Mario in addition to exploding when they hit the ground, able to kill him as seen in the footage. 😆

In the Switch version of Super Mario RPG, Mallow is bad at dancing. His dance is very slightly out of sync with the other characters, which becomes more and more noticeable the longer the player stays on the level-up screen. Whether this is deliberate or an oversight is unknown. 😆

A common Super Mario 64 urban legend is that it is possible for Dorrie to eat Mario, based on an in-game sign saying "Don't become his lunch". While that is not possible, Mario can in fact be harmed by Dorrie by diving into its neck at a very precise angle, becoming squashed. 🤔
