Jazz is an endlessly amusing old boy, now 16, and always with something to say. Sometimes he is asking for a cuddle, which he makes clear by settling firmly into my lap. More often, though, he is on a quiet mission to secure extra treats.
His tactics shift depending on how convincing he wants to be. At times it is the steady eye contact you see here. On special occasions, he performs a silent meow, opening his mouth in perfect imitation but without a sound. It is a remarkably effective technique.
