Jade Seabrook

Jade Seabrook 35 year old full time stepmum just figuring it out đŸ‘‹đŸ» It has been my whole world since I can remember. That stage was mine and I wanted it badly. So I did it.

Before I babble on about myself, I just want to clarify that I am not doing this for any amount of sympathy, attention, likes, fame or self absorption. This post and ones following will outline the reasons WHY I have chosen to do this and WHY our minds need to be opened to what really is important. So here goes;

My name is Jade, I’m 26 years old from Watford (just outside of London, UK)

Since taking my first steps as a child, all i have ever known is dance. Growing up I took on way more than my fellow 7-year old peers. I was taking classes every other evening after school, going out early Sunday mornings to compete in competitions. Hell, I even had my West-End debut at the age of 13 singing in the choir of ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’! Hats off to my parents though, because not only did they drive me to and fund ALL the classes, but they sacrificed their mornings/evenings and supported me every single step of the way. It’s safe to say that by society’s standards, I led a privileged life. I was born in to the 6th richest country in the world, with (dare I say it) a completely white & British heritage

Reality: I should have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to complain about, but sadly this is where the strive for ‘perfection’ starts to rear its ugly head - along with our society’s tainted idea of what life should be like. Fast forward to my 17 year old self and I knew I wanted to perform for a living. So I auditioned for Performing Arts Schools, instead of following my friends who were looking to go to University. As much as my school tried to change my mind and tried to push me towards something more academic, I wouldn’t listen. I knew it was a tough industry and my parents still supported me. Not once, even to this day have they turned around and tried to give advice about looking for a ‘normal job’. I chased that dream. I attended the School of my choice on half a scholarship, I trained under some of the best and biggest names in the business. Little did I know, that tiny seed of negativity had just been planted and would bloom into something much more than I ever thought possible...

And 4 years on, the questions still keep coming! đŸ€Ș

As a 2027 bride it’s so overwhelming that I have to think about everything RIGHT NOW but it’s also things like this that make me so excited!

Now to preface this potentially being taken the wrong way, we’re not forcing ideologies or beliefs as we want the children to be able to figure things out for themselves - but if they ask me a question which can be dealt an unbiased answer, I will talk to them about it.

The kids are being brought up in a family that has ALWAYS respected women. They see it with James and I, but they also see it with their grandparents, and the extended family too. They’re surrounded by healthy, equal partnerships and quite frankly, you couldn’t ask for more than that as they grow up in a world which seems to be trying to teach them otherwise.

What would you do in this situation??
