I am truly saddened to hear of the passing away today of Dave Cousins. As well as being a superb song-writer, singer and musician as a solo artist, and in The Strawbs he was also a highly successful radio exec.
Dave gave me a break as a PT presenter and then full time member of the on air team at Radio Tees 257 starting on overnights, weekends, The Radio Tees Top 40 Chart, Rock Me Gently, Spectrum the arts show ( to which Dave Brown was also a contributor), weekday drive and finally several years on weekday mid mornings.
We recorded a one hour programme about his life in 2020 in which his warmth and generosity shone through.
I will miss you Dave. Thanks for everything that you did for me, and I hope that the music upstairs is amazing. I will miss our chats about music...and for you pushing my musical knowledge. Now please rest in peace.
I will pay my tribute to you on air Dave on Boom Rock this saturday between 4pm and 6pm.
