this is a reckoning: a space to break the silence, unravel the pain, and find strength in the ruins. Hi, I’m Angela Jade, also known as The Pain Alchemist. I write about chronic pain, trauma, neurodivergence, and emotional healing — through the art of nesting: creating tiny, sensory comforts that help you feel safe in your own skin again. I run my empire from bed — with a mic, laptop and hot water

bottle

For 39 years, I have survived what most wouldn’t believe — trauma, chronic illness, abuse, grief, and the silent battles no one talks about. Here, I share my truth, invite you to sit in the rubble with me, and prove that healing isn’t pretty — it’s real. No scripts. Just survival, spoken out loud.

💛 My debut book How to Build a Nest launches this December — a gentle self-healing manual for people rebuilding their lives after pain, illness, or change.

Tis the season… to be overwhelmed and overstimulated.
If one more person asks you what you want for Christmas, knowing damn well your ND brain is buffering — this is your sign.

So I wrote the list for you.
Comfort-first. Sensory-friendly. Actually useful.

No fluff. No random bath sets. No gifts that end up in a drawer.

Weighted blankets, heat therapy, mobility aids, sensory calm, cosy PJs — the stuff that genuinely helps you survive the chaos season.

they’re so uncomfortable, impractical, and useless for anyone living with chronic pain or a body that needs options.

Everything in a chronic-illness home has to be:

✨ multi-use
✨ sensory-friendly
✨ low-effort
✨ comfortable from every angle
✨ and able to hold you during a flare

If I could empty my lounge room and rebuild it from scratch, I wouldn’t put a sofa in there.
I literally don’t even own one anymore — I have a foam mattress in the lounge because it’s a million times more comfortable than any couch I’ve ever owned.

So if you could empty your lounge room and fill it with ONLY what you actually want…
what would you turn it into?

A nest?
A sensory room?
A floor-level cosy space?
A blanket fort?
A reading den?
A room full of soft lighting, cushions and movement options?

Because honestly…
furniture should adapt to YOU, not the other way around.

Chronic pain realness: all me. 🖤
