SURVIVORS WHO HAVE NVS (NARCISSISTIC ABUSE VICTIM SYNDROME) MAY BE SEEN BY OTHERS AS SELF DESTRUCTIVE....
Narcissistic Victim Syndrome and PTSD are natural responses to severe trauma and deep manipulation by the narcissist, which included gaslighting, which causes us to not know what to believe is true and false anymore.
Obsessing over the past is also a natural response to high anxiety, and because we don't want to repeat our mistakes we try to understand how we were fooled. NVS is also the cause of very high stress, which takes it out on your body, causing pain and other problems, listed below.
NVS can cause people to self-isolate, and may self harm, including eating disorders. They may decline to be in their usual social situations and be depressed. Some self-medicate with alcohol or drugs because they are in so much pain. They may be mistaken for a hypochondriac because of their stress related health problems.
Here is a list of problems that can be caused by the extreme stress of prolong or severe narcissistic abuse. Stress can literally be a killer. The narcissist wasn’t just destroying your life. The narc was also destroying your health. Not that they’d care.
