There's this 83-year-old guy named John Joyce in St. Petersburg, Florida, who makes a living mowing lawns. Recently, his old truck, which was about 20 years old, broke down, so he had to walk to each house while pushing his lawnmower. Sometimes, he’d walk several miles just to reach one customer! A few weeks ago, one of his clients found out about his situation and decided to lend a hand.
Robert and Nikki Norton, who just got married earlier this month, learned about John's truck right before their wedding. Their first thought was to use some of their wedding gift money to buy him a new truck, but it turned out they didn’t need to do that. Nikki shared John's story online and started a GoFundMe page for him. In less than a month, over 300 people chipped in and raised an amazing $13,000 to help him out!
Then, a used car dealership offered to sell them a 2004 Nissan V8 truck at cost. They surprised John with it on Monday, and they even had enough left over to cover the insurance and buy him a new lawnmower! One of John's relatives told the local news that this might be the kindest thing anyone's ever done for him. When they interviewed him right after he received the keys, he said he felt like a millionaire!
