This was so amazing !!! I was overjoyed to contribute to this symposium through the panel alongside Shine Monyatsi, Katso Lizarene Ramodia and Dr Tlamelo Setshwaelo, where we unpacked the challenges faced by youth in these areas and how they can all intersect to create inclusive solutions, employment opportunities and then through mentorship of the Climate Track (The Green Warriors ) who came in second for the Youth Pitching competition. One message that echoed through the panel and something I will always continue to champion is that there is no absence of innovation with youth in Botswana! They need opportunities for their ideas to actualise because they can unlock opportunities for themselves and others . Thank you for the opportunity to the organisers and partners.

⚕️HEALTH - DR. TLAMELO SETSHWAELO

Dr Tlamelo Setshwaelo is a medical doctor with over 8 years of clinical and public health experience. Currently as the Clinical Project Manager at the Botswana Sexual and Reproductive Health Initiative, under the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership, she supports clinical research focused on improving the sexual and reproductive health outcomes of adolescent girls and women in Botswana. 🩺

📲 DIGITAL - SHINE MONYATSI

Shine Monyatsi is a dynamic 29-year-old entrepreneur and the founder of Ipachi Capital, a pioneering FinTech company that leverages advanced data analytics to deliver risk-based lending solutions to underserved small businesses across Africa. Shine is a passionate advocate for community empowerment and inclusive finance. He has represented Africa on major global platforms, including the Paris ViVa Tech Summit and the Global Startup World Cup. 🌐

🌍 DIPLOMACY - KATSO RAMODIA

Katso L. Ramodia is a passionate advocate for democracy and inclusive development across Botswana and Africa. With over nine years of experience in democratic engagement and civil society, she currently serves as the Women’s Commissioner for the African Union Student Platform, collaborating with women leaders across member states to advance gender equality and youth empowerment. Katso is also a trustee and board member at Women Lead Africa. 💪

what a wonderful blast from the not so distant past!!! I was so happy when my friends at SKY Girls BW reached out and asked for some tips for their readers on thrifting !

The Original Green Building is a Mud Hut and that's on Afro-futurism ✨🛖

I always say, "Sustainability safeguards are embedded in our African and Indigenous cultures" and it was incredible to be surrounded by people who share that sentiment at the Africa Green Building Summit, hosted by Green Building Council. 💚

A session that truly moved me featured Jonathan Raheem Hosseini, who shared a heartbreaking story about a spring in the Mahalapye River that existed forever but has now dried up, largely due to river sand mining. This powerful anecdote reminded us that true sustainability often means "coming back to our roots." It's a profound call to "come back home" and confront the urgency of our environmental challenges.

For me, this highlighted the need to speak simply, communicate for understanding, and translate our fears into action in the climate change fight.

It was such a vivid reminder of the immense power of storytelling across all thematic areas – from renewable energy and water conservation to climate education. Stories and simplified approaches aren't just impactful; they're crucial for engaging audiences, fostering understanding, and driving action!

I hosted the entire 2 days of the as the MC !!

This was the same week where I also hosted the stakeholders engagement for the . I did plenty hard things this on this week !! And im realising that sometimes the journey to yourself will require you to say yes to hard things ! When I was tasked with being an MC for the YouSustain Conference and I didn't think I had it in me to actually do it , having never done anything like this before .The feedback Im getting suggests that I did very well but to be quite honest I didn't believe I could do it ,but I said YES anyway .

Had I shyed away I wouldn't have known it was possible for me to MC for 3 events in one week and a hybrid conference that included participation from several African countries , thereafter do a Btv and Gabz Fm interview of the Youth Climate Council Launch.

A valuable reminder that we have everything we need in us to succeed , we just need to step into the light and DO HARD THINGS. So this week I'm celebrating myself for stepping into the light and rising to the occasion .

Last week, I had the privilege of hosting the Youth Climate Council (YCC) Stakeholder Roundtable as MC , this consultative dialogue was aimed at making sure the YCC's Botswana structure and is aligned with country priorities and an enabling environment for collaborative pathways across sectors . The willingness to bridge the gaps were really energising , the vision for a sauce such the YCC deeply aligns with my passion for making sure youth are contributors to climate dialogue and not just here recipients of decisions . Im truly optimistic about this dynamic space where young leaders, civic society , private sector and policymakers unite to advance climate justice in Botswana.

🙏 Huge thanks to all my friends in climate action !! and our collaborators who attended and brought such valuable insights and expertise to this work. This is just the beginning!
