Two tier birthday cake!
Victoria sponge with jam and vanilla buttercream filling!
The theme requested was a grassy backdrop for some teletubbies characters that the client had already bought.
Hopefully I’ll get a pic with the teletubbies in situ after the party!

A recent request for a 7year old’s birthday who loves the film The Greatest Showman! I was asked to make a 4 layer chocolate cake in the shape of a top hat with 30 cupcakes and they wanted to add their own circus theme topper with their daughters name on it! Fondant cakes are not really my bag and I admire anyone who can get perfectly straight edges! It took several attempts at rolling this out before I managed to cover the cake, my main problem being that my rolling pin was 2 inches smaller than the size I needed to roll it out at! Improvisation is something a lot of bakers will appreciate as a valuable skill, and thankfully I got it over the cake after four attempts! 😬
Apart from the fact it looks more like a bowler hat rather than a top hat, I believe the client was happy with the end result! .

Due to being a complete dinosaur on the ever changing platform that is Instagram, I was unable to play the song at the same time as posting a pic in my stories, and as for mastering reels…Forget it! I’ll stick to cake making for now!

Chocolate Easter cake! Decadent, rich, chocolatey and def not for the faint hearted!
I think the eggs might have looked slightly more authentic if I’d hidden the seams!! Oh well, attention to detail went slightly out the window this weekend as I spent most of the time in the garden, watching some real birds!

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break. Back to the grind tomorrow!

These carrot, ginger and pecan cuppies are adapted from my favourite recipe for carrot cake! A soft moist sponge with just a kick of ginger and a crunch of pecan, perfect with a cuppa! Even the Easter bunny can be found lurking amongst them!

I‘be taken the weekend off to go the countryside and visit my bestie from Art college days. After more than 30 years of friendship what better way to celebrate than with cake (and a few glasses of bubbly!) 🧁🥂😜

Two tier birthday cake for a one year old birthday! Haven’t made many tiered cakes, and was a little disappointed the icing wasn’t as smooth as I’d have liked, but just glad I managed to get the top cake on without too much drama!
