Garth Erin Feeney was born on April 6, 1973 in California. He had two brothers, Michael and Matthew. He lived in New York City, NY. Garth attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Business. Garth was someone who fit a lot of jobs and activities into his life. In addition to his work with Data Synapse, he had established a program for poor children, tutored an illiterate adult, worked for campus security, was a dorm counselor and a representative on the university’s Board of Trustees, and worked for Habitat and Humanity. He was also a rock climber, scuba diver, kayaker, and in-line skater. He would skate through Central Park whenever he had the chance. Garth’s mother, Judy, said, “He was one of those people who did everything and anything.” Garth was also described by his friends and family as friendly, passionate, gentle, and special.

Garth worked as director of corporate development for Data Synapse in Manhattan. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Garth attended the Risk Waters conference at Windows on the World, the restaurant located on the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. At 8:46 a.m., Garth was at Windows on the World when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving both the restaurant’s floors above the impassable impact zone. Sadly, no one working at or attending Windows on the World survived the attack, including Garth. Though his life was unfairly taken on September 11th, Garth’s love, accomplishments, and memories are forever cherished and remembered. His life and legacy are never forgotten.

Brady Kay Howell was born on April 4, 1975 to Jeanette and Kenneth Howell in Rexburg, ID. He grew up in Sugar City, ID, and lived in Arlington, VA, in adulthood. Brady attended and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School, Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and Syracuse University with a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Brady was his high school class’s student body president and also participated in Eagle Scouts. Brady married his sweetheart, Elizabeth Anderson, on November 8, 1996. The pair had a very loving marriage and Brady always mentioned her in every letter and conversation he had with people. Brady was a fan of James Bond and Star Wars, and he was also passionate about his Mormon faith. He taught Sunday school classes at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Brady was described by his friends and family as dedicated, charismatic, passionate, and caring.

Brady worked as a management intern for Chief of Intelligence for the U.S. Navy at the Pentagon. He started the job in June of 2001 and considered it to be his dream job. He worked on the Executive Board that sets strategy and policy for the Naval intelligence community and provided daily briefings to the Chief of Naval Operations, Secretary of the Navy, and other senior military and civilian decision makers. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Brady was working at the Pentagon when Flight 77 struck the building. Unfortunately, he did not survive the attack. Though his life was unfairly taken on September 11th, Brady’s love, accomplishments, and memories are forever cherished and remembered. His life and legacy are never forgotten.

Mark Lawrence Charette was born on February 19, 1963 to Donnalee and Lawrence Charette in Warwick, RI. He had a brother, Gregory. He lived in Millburn, NJ. Mark attended and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He attended college on a Navy ROTC scholarship and served in the U.S. Navy for five years on a nuclear submarine after graduating. Mark met his sweetheart, Cheryl Desmaris, at the University of Pennsylvania in an engineering class, which had been their original majors before they both switched to business degrees. Mark and Cheryl fell in love, got married, and had three children together, Lauren, age 8, Andrew, age 6, and Jonathan, age 2 (at the time of Mark’s passing). Remembering her husband, Cheryl said, “Mark was the best father in the world. The kids were everything to him.” Mark had a tradition of taking his children to McDonald’s every Saturday to give his wife time for herself. He loved hiking, skiing, and swimming with his children, as well as spending time at the family’s vacation home in Vermont. Mark always wanted to spend time with his family and when traveling for work, he would rather take midnight flights than miss a morning with his family. He enjoyed renovating the family’s home and had built a cathedral ceiling for his bedroom with Cheryl and had plans to build a swing set for his children. Mark was described by his friends and family as warm, caring, dedicated, and determined.

Mark worked as a senior vice president for Marsh & McLennan in Morristown, NJ. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Mark was attending a meeting at Marsh’s World Trade Center offices on the 100th floor of the North Tower, when Flight 11 struck the building, leaving his floor above the impassable impact zone. No one working at or attending Marsh’s offices survived the attack, including Mark. Though his life was unfairly cut short on September 11th, Mark’s love, accomplishments, and special memories made are forever cherished and remembered. His life and legacy are never forgotten.

Maile Rachel Hale was born on February 14, 1974 to Carol and Robert Hale in Honolulu, HI, where she also grew up. She had two sisters, Marilyce and Martha. She lived in Cambridge, MA. Maile attended and graduated from Kaiser High School as her class valedictorian in 1993 and Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Maile had many interests and a strong work ethic. She loved ballet, dance, the ocean, and eating chocolate. She had a shy and quiet personality but had no trouble making friends and making others happy. Her college roommate, Kimberly Gilbert, said, “Maile was calm and quiet and really, really sweet. She would put together a party and do all the work. And when it was going, she'd be standing by the side, watching and enjoying people.” Remembering her daughter, Carol said, “She loved dancing. She loved the sea. She loved to come home and swim in the ocean. She was what everybody wants their child to be.”

Maile worked as vice president of operations for Boston Investor Services. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Maile attended the Risk Waters conference at Windows on the World, the restaurant located on the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. At 8:46 a.m., Maile was at Windows on the World when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving both of the restaurant’s floors above the impassable impact zone. Paul Robert Eckna was born on April 18, 1973 to Carol and Stanley Eckna. He was the youngest of three children, with two older brothers, Richard and Stephen. He was born in Garden City, NY, where he spent his childhood and adolescence. He later moved to West New York, NJ, in adulthood. Paul attended and graduated from Garden City High School and the University of Nebraska. He played football at both schools, which was something he greatly enjoyed and valued. Paul was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated football player when he played. He was described as a loving, warm, and kind-hearted man.

In 2001, Paul led a happy and respectable life. He worked as an International Equity Trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. He was very thrilled to have this job and held high respect for both to his work and his colleagues, forming many valuable relationships. Paul was close with his parents, who were incredibly proud of their well-accomplished son. He also held a lot of respect and consideration for his older brothers, Richard and Stephen. Paul had a large circle of friends who were very important to him. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Paul was working at Cantor Fitzgerald when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, and all of Cantor was left above the impassable impact zone. Paul’s life was taken away, but he will always be loved and will always be remembered with fondness. After his passing, his family and friends created the Paul R. Eckna Memorial Foundation, which helps provide funding for children’s charities, and provides scholarships for student athletes from Garden City, Paul’s hometown.

On his memorial pamphlet, the front quote read: “As you hold me close in memory, even though we are apart, my spirit will live on, there within your heart…I am with you always.”

Peter Anton Klein was born on May 2, 1966 to Hans and Ruth Klein. He had three sisters, Anne, Lisa, and Diana. He lived in Weehawken, NJ. Peter attended and graduated from Arlington High School, where he participated in the marching band and wind ensemble, and Clarkson University with Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering. Peter married Maria Lorena Briones in August of 2000 in Monterey, Mexico. The pair had met online and fell in love upon meeting, having a very romantic and loving relationship with each other. Peter loved computers and was very skilled with them, having developed a natural programming language and established a career as a computer consultant. In his spare time, Peter enjoyed flying and was pursuing his pilot’s license. His first solo flight was in the summer of 2001. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and was a member of the New York Urban Professional Athletic League. Most of all, Peter enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and participating in family activities.

Peter worked as a computer consultant for Marsh & McLennan on the 96th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Peter was working on a project for Marsh when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving his floor directly within the impassable impact zone. Sadly, none of Marsh’s attending employees survived the attack, including Peter. Though his life was sadly cut short on September 11th, his legacy and spirit remain living forever. Peter’s life, love, and memory will always be remembered, never to be forgotten or lost to time.

Ruth Ellen Kelter was born on October 31, 1958 in Jane and David Keller in Grove City, PA, where she also grew up. She lived in New York City, NY, in adulthood. Ruth attended and graduated from Grove City High School, Vassar College with a Bachelor’s degree, and New York University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Ruth was known to be a very caring person and was remembered by her friends and family as “the epitome of compassion”. She would often provide advice to her friends, visit colleagues if they were sick, and would always remember children’s birthdays. Her longtime sweetheart and companion, Robert Dow, said, “Ruth made you want to give something back to her.” In her free time, Ruth loved fishing in Cape Cod, betting on the Kentucky Derby, and hosting and cooking for dinner parties. Ruth was also described by her friends and family as kind, funny, gentle, and thoughtful.

Ruth worked as a senior vice president and director of research for Fiduciary Trust on the 94th floor of the World Trade Center’s South Tower. She was very well-liked and respected by her co-workers and colleagues and known to be one of the best analysts the company had. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Ruth was working on the 94th floor Ruth was working on the 94th floor when Flight 11 struck the North Tower. She called her boyfriend, Robert, to tell him what had happened and that they were being told not to evacuate. Then, another line started ringing so she said “I love you” and that she had to go. At 9:03 a.m., Ruth was on the 94th floor when Flight 175 struck the South Tower, leaving her floor above the impact zone. . Sadly, she was still inside the building upon its collapse and did not survive. Though her life was unfairly cut short on September 11th, Ruth will always be loved and remembered for the love, accomplishments, and memories made throughout her life. Her life and legacy will never be forgotten.

Catherine Ann Nardella was born on November 21, 1960 and lived in Bloomfield, NJ. She had two sisters, Grace and Lavinia. She attended and graduated from Boontown High School in 1978. Catherine was known to be an exceptionally caring person. Her sisters remembered that she was someone who was always thinking of others and gave without thinking of what she would get in return. Catherine was active in her church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and was a member of the choir there. After church services every Sunday, she would wait for an old man to help him walk down the steps of the church. On September 10th, Catherine’s parents were returning home from a senior citizens’ bus outing to Atlantic City, and they had a habit of always having a cup of coffee as soon as they got in the door. However, this time, the electricity was out, so Catherine went to Dunkin’ Donuts to have coffees waiting for them. The next morning, she got ready for another day of work at the World Trade Center.

Catherine worked as an insurance consultant for Aon Corporation at the World Trade Center’s South Tower. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Catherine was working in the South Tower when Flight 175 struck the building, and she unfortunately did not survive the attack. Though her life was sadly cut short on September 11th, Catherine’s loving spirit lives on forever in the hearts and memories of her loved ones and through all who continue to remember her. She will never be forgotten.

Niurka Davila was born April 12, 1954 in Cuba, later emigrating to the United States and becoming a United States citizen. Niurka was known as a very joyful and lively person, who had a lot of determination and valued her routines highly. She often made jokes, and was known for having a beautiful smile and laugh. She had a son and a newborn granddaughter, who she enjoyed spending time with, as well as many friends she’d made throughout her life.

In 1987, Niurka joined the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey as a data operator in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. She enjoyed this position a lot and made many dear friends at the Port Authority’s data control division. Every morning, Niurka would meet with her friends, Jackie Willins and Myrna Maldonado, for breakfast at the Port Authority’s lounge on the 70th floor. She also always took a break at 2:30 for coffee. Niurka enrolled in courses at Audrey Cohen College for a Bachelor’s degree, and she took them very seriously, prioritizing her studying highly. Unfortunately, she was never able to complete her degree. On September 11, 2001, Niurka was working in the North Tower when Flight 11 struck the building. Although Niurka passed on that day, her spirit, love, and determination remain in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved her.

Thomas Howard Bowden Jr. was born on September 2, 1965 to Sheilah and Thomas Bowden. He had two brothers, Paul and James, and a sister, Kathryn. He lived in Wyckoff, NJ. Thomas attended and graduated from Glen Ridge High School in 1983 and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Thomas married his sweetheart, Deborah Bowden, and they had two daughters together, Sara, 21 months, and Alyson, only 12 days old, born on August 31, 2001. Thomas adored his daughters and would stand over their cribs in the early morning admiring them. He was a loving husband, often sneaking up behind his wife while she was doing dishes to hug and kiss her. He talked about his family often to others. Thomas was a sports fanatic, and his favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins and the Boston Red Sox. His sister, Kathleen, said, “He charted his life events based on what sporting events happened that day.” He also loved Bruce Springsteen music. Thomas was known to be very loyal and remained close with friends he had made in grade school. He was also very generous, once sending a big unsolicited check to a relative who had lost their job and paying for the repairs in a family member’s basement. Thomas was described by his friends and family as caring, warm, gregarious, and sunny.

Thomas worked as an equities trader for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. He had started working for the firm in 1993. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Thomas was working on the 104th floor when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, leaving his floor and all of Cantor’s offices above the impassable impact zone. None of the firm’s attending employees survived, including Thomas. Though his life was taken on September 11th, Thomas’s love, care, accomplishments, and memories made throughout his life are forever cherished and remembered. He will never be forgotten.
