Tiger Woods Receives Five-Year Driving Ban After Crash

Golf legend Tiger Woods has been handed a five-year driving ban after reaching a plea agreement in connection with a road accident that occurred in Florida in March.

The decision was confirmed on Wednesday during a hearing at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida, where Judge Darren Steele warned Woods that any breach of the suspension could result in an immediate return to custody.

Under the plea agreement, Woods entered a no-contest plea to reduced charges of careless and reckless driving. Prosecutors dropped the more serious charge of driving under the influence, which could have carried the possibility of a custodial sentence if he had been convicted.

The incident occurred on March 27 near Woods’ residence on Jupiter Island. Authorities said the golfer's sport utility vehicle clipped a truck towing a trailer before overturning while attempting to overtake on a residential road.

Benjamin Fredrick Returns After 287-Day Injury Absence

Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick has made a successful return to competitive football after spending 287 days on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The 21-year-old featured for Brentford U-21 on Monday, playing the first half of their emphatic 5-1 victory over Sunderland U-21 at Wheatsheaf Park.

Fredrick started the match and completed 45 minutes before being replaced by Ollie Shield at half-time as Brentford secured their second Premier League 2 win of the season.

The Nigerian defender had not played since November 2025, when he featured in Nigeria’s demanding 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-off matches against Gabon and DR Congo in Morocco. He completed the full 120 minutes in both fixtures before later sustaining a knee injury while training with Belgian club FCV Dender EH, where he was on loan from Brentford.

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe was reportedly among 26 high-profile individuals identified as potential targets in an alleged kidnapping plot uncovered by French authorities.

According to reports in France, investigators are examining allegations that an 18-year-old suspect, identified as Clement L, coordinated activities from prison using two mobile phones.

Authorities reportedly discovered a list containing the names and addresses of 26 individuals after prison guards seized the devices. The alleged targets included footballers, musicians, wealthy business figures, jewellers and other prominent personalities.

Mbappe was among the names reportedly found during the investigation.

Nnadi came on at half-time for Himad Abdelli but was forced off in the 74th minute after appearing to sustain a knock.

Marseille manager Bruno Genesio confirmed that the 21-year-old experienced discomfort in his knee, although the severity of the injury remains unclear.

“Nnadi felt a twisting sensation in his knee,” Genesio said.

Nigeria rank 10th globally in Adidas’ $8.5m kit deal

Nigeria’s new partnership with Adidas has placed the country among the world’s most valuable national team kit agreements, with the deal reportedly worth $8.5m annually.

The agreement ranks Nigeria 10th globally based on reported annual value, highlighting the commercial strength of the country’s football brand despite recent challenges on the pitch.

Nigeria’s return to Adidas represents a substantial increase on the previous arrangement with Nike, which reportedly provided $500,000 in cash and $1m worth of equipment each year.

Under the new agreement, the Nigeria Football Federation is expected to receive $4.5m in cash and $4m worth of equipment annually for the country’s national teams. Stakeholders demand grassroots reforms in Nigerian football

Football stakeholders have called for grassroots-driven reforms in Nigerian football as the country begins a new phase of restructuring following the resignation of the Nigeria Football Federation board.

The development follows President Bola Tinubu’s call for action to address what he described as “repeated failures” within Nigerian football administration.

An interim administrative structure has been put in place after NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and the federation’s 11 other executive committee members resigned.

Emmanuel Ikpeme, who previously served as NFF deputy general secretary, has been appointed interim general secretary, while former Director of Media and Communications Ademola Olajire will serve as interim deputy general secretary.

Infantino urges stronger structures for Nigerian football

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has called for stronger institutional structures and clearer development pathways as football authorities in Nigeria begin a major reform process.

Infantino made the call after meeting a Nigerian delegation led by National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko at FIFA House in Zurich, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

The FIFA president said the discussions focused on institutional, governance and developmental issues, as well as ongoing collaboration between FIFA and Nigerian football authorities.

“We had a detailed talk on institutional, governance and developmental topics, as well as our ongoing collaborations,” Infantino said.
