That day of the year has come around yet again, and this time it’s the 80th year anniversary. And, I will yet again repost the comment I’ve posted here and there over the past few years.

[The Real Reason America Used Nuclear Weapons Against Japan. It Was Not To End the War Or Save Lives]
After 2 major events towards the end of the Pacific War, both the USA and JPN knew who would come out as the victor.
One was the Battle of Iwo Jima (18 February – 26 March 1945), and the other was the Bombing of Tokyo (9–10 March 1945). And the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki took place in August. Why do you think America waited that long (5 months!) or needed to drop the A-bombs at all when they knew they won the war?
JPN was no longer a threat. Who do you think was by far the biggest threat to the USA at the time? The Soviet, of course! And, America’s message to the Soviet and the whole world was clear : We have nukes, so don’t you dare mess with us ... just do as we say!
The Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not to end the war, as gullible people believe, but to prepare for America’s post war world dominance, and also to experiment with 2 different nuke bombs.
The Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the biggest “state terrorist acts” in human history.

I had been strongly against nukes … until I saw what happened to Ukraine, who had signed the Budapest Memorandum. Unfortunately and ironically, nukes have become a necessary evil called nuke deterrence. Unlike many other things, it’s not a matter of degrees but a matter of “all or nothing”. Now, is it possible at all to abolish all nukes? The answer seems to be quite dismal, and the whole planet seems to be doomed, I’m afraid.
