📍 Getting there: I recommend renting a quad bike to reach the trailhead entrance, but you can absolutely walk the whole way if you have the time.

🎟️ Entry fee: $3 USD per person

🥾 The hike: About 2 hours each way. It’s medium intensity and gets steep in places, so wear proper shoes.

🌊 The payoff: At the end you can swim and stand right underneath the waterfall.

🎒 What to pack: There are no toilets or facilities, so bring plenty of water and a packed lunch if you want to eat at the falls.

📍 LITTLE CORN ISLAND (Day 1–4)
✈️ Fly into Managua, then make your way to Little Corn Island. No roads here, you’ll walk everywhere
🏝️ Favourite beach is Yotam
🛏️ Stay at Las Palmeras Beachfront Hotel (doubles as a dive shop)
🤿 Amazing scuba diving and snorkeling

📍 BIG CORN ISLAND (Day 4–5)
🛏️ Stay at
🛵 Rent a scooter to get around the island
🏖️ Favourite beach is Picnic Beach - don’t skip the floating bar in the middle of the ocean

📍 LEON (Day 6–8)

If you think you’re too old to take the gap year now… guess what, you’re not getting any younger.

You have to stop thinking that just because you’re a certain age, you can’t do something you’ve always dreamed of anymore.

Take it from me, someone who has actually done it before. I took my first gap year at 31 and I had the same concern with age before I went. But once I got out there, I realised I’d built it all up in my head and there was nothing odd about traveling later in life (especially in your 30s). It wasn’t hard to make friends, I didn’t feel out of place. You will meet so many people of all ages and backgrounds on your travels.

Get out there and explore no matter what age you are. I promise you won’t regret it!
