Main difference between TOP agencies and small agencies:

TOP agencies: You hear about something being cast, you call them, you force them to get you that audition, or you threaten to leave. They get on calls with the casting director, studio runners, etc.

SMALL agencies: You hear about something being cast, you call them, and they reply, 'You're not suitable for this casting call.' If you force the issue, you're considered unprofessional and unappreciative, and they'll kick you out.

ACTORS SEEKING REPRESENTATION! - London

The industry is changing really, REALLY fast. In 2025 and beyond, it’s all about taking control and making your own opportunities. without gatekeepers.
In the UK, there are 100s of talent agencies with 100s of clients waiting for the call. The majority of them are just waiting.

There are a few co-op agencies with actors who do support each other but not many, if any, are producing projects. And the majority of them are focused on theatre.

The industry is moving into content creation, creating your own social media work, with Vimeo about to allow creators to start their own streaming platforms and much more. There are a lot of new digital media opportunities for those who put the creative work into it.

The industry has also been through a lot in the past five years, pandemic, writers' strikes, actors' strikes, Hollywood fires (which did affect productions). All of this is why it’s slow, and quieter right now, and it will stay that way for a while. A lot of production companies are moving into social media, streaming, and putting money into content like low-budget horror films or one-minute vertical soap operas, and other series.

I’ve created a lot of content myself, from typical comedy on YouTube to over 30 short films and 2 feature films. I got myself a few good jobs by self-submitting and communicating with Casting Directors (2 commercials and a small role in Men in Black).

I would like to start a co-op agency with actors who have more of a digital producer and content creator mindset rather than a theatre one.

Yes, we’ll do the usual agent-Spotlight submissions, but we’ll take it further by producing a lot of our own digital work, short films, and maybe even feature films.

So, I’m looking for a few strong actors and writers who understand social media and know where the industry is going.
The aim is to mostly focus on producing digital content as an agency, get partnerships and sponsorships, and secure film, TV, and commercial work.

Unlike most co-ops where actors need to be in the office twice a month, this will involve much more work. I’m looking for people with strong work ethic and passion, who can give 200% into growing their careers.

If you’re ready to really work towards your career and want to start a co-op together, please send DM with links.

Look to the future, not to the past ;)

Vimeo Launches New Streaming Platform for Creators

Vimeo has introduced a new feature called Vimeo Streaming, aimed at empowering content creators to launch their own subscription-based streaming services. This platform allows creators to build customized, branded channels where they can offer subscriptions, rent or sell videos, and host live events—all without needing to code.

The service supports high-quality 4K streaming and includes tools for content protection and audience analytics. This move provides creators with greater control over their content and revenue, offering an alternative to traditional platforms like YouTube or Instagram.

Notably, several prominent creator groups, such as The Try Guys and the Sidemen, have already adopted Vimeo Streaming to launch their own platforms. Collectively, these services have attracted millions of subscribers and generated significant revenue, highlighting the potential of this new offering for independent creators.

For those looking to establish a direct connection with their audience and have more control over their content, Vimeo Streaming presents an exciting opportunity.

2025 is the 10th anniversary of ANC.
ANC, formerly known as ANCW – Acting Now Co-Workshop – was started by Lukas DiSparrow back in 2015.

A place for actors in London from all walks of life to meet once a week, free of charge, and practice different acting techniques, from script reading, improvisation, Meisner, cold reading, auditions, and more.

The actors would meet every week and collaboratively help each other get better. No judging, just constructive feedback, tips, and directions. Sometimes, one actor would take the role of a leader and prepare the workshop for the day.

Occasionally, we’d also have guest tutors, from Head of Drama at RADA Josh Bashizza to Casting Director Nancy Bishop.
They all gave us their time free of charge to support this little acting community.

We liked to call it Actors’ Playground, a space where we had fun playing with acting.

It was also very helpful for those struggling with mental health and confidence. Not everyone has the confidence to go to acting schools with tutors and just start performing. Some need time and this was the place for that.
Some actors came every week just to observe until they were finally ready to join in.

We also created film projects together. We made three short films, one of them even in Amsterdam! We took a night coach, filmed all day, and came back the following night.

Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, the co-workshop ended after six months. Still, we kept meeting from time to time for special events like free cinema trips sponsored by Picturehouse Central.

Who knows… maybe one day, ANCW will be back.

Things like this never happen and never will happen in the xenophobic British film and TV industry. Where an immigrant with broken English and a dream makes it in leading roles within 2 years.
Things like that only happen in Hollywood.

A lot of people go into acting with the mindset: "I want to be rich and famous."
They see that 1% of Hollywood stars living the glam life. They see red carpets, the flashes of paparazzi, how amazing they look, how admired they are, and they want that.

But not many know: people might know your face, might know your name, you might be in loads of movies, even a supporting actor in one of the best films out there… and still not be getting paid.

Josh Brolin got paid less than peanuts for 'No Country for Old Men (2007)'.

So next time you see an unpaid or "expenses paid" or "low paid" casting call for a small indie or student film, please bear that in mind.
That is the reality—even in Hollywood. Take every opportunity and work towards being in that 1%

HEAT (1995) is one of the best films starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino—but not many people know that HEAT was actually a remake of 1989’s L.A. Takedown, a low-budget film with some pretty rough acting.

They used nearly the same script, just with much better actors.

L.A. Takedown features actors who behave like every acting student trying to be De Niro or Pacino— trying too hard to look dangerous with their dead eye stares. Meanwhile, De Niro and Pacino are just… being.

This is honestly the best acting lesson you’ll ever see.
