🔋 Africa’s Battery Storage Boom – 2025
Africa is rapidly scaling up battery energy storage, with over 18 GWh in the pipeline by mid-2025. South Africa leads with large-scale projects like the 1.14 GWh Kenhardt system, while Egypt, Morocco, and emerging players like Uganda, Namibia, and Malawi are driving momentum. From just 0.15 GWh in 2023 to more than 1.6 GWh in 2024, growth is accelerating to close the continent’s energy gap.
