We've been celebrating the end of summer with Watchet Summertime!

This fantastic community event in the Somerset town of Watchet is an essential part of the calendar and we love capturing it for Western Marinas, whose marina is a BIG part of the town and community.

Working in partnership and collaboration with the town, the marina hosts visiting boats over the week long event, helping to boost the local economy and keep the town thriving.

Planning and filming a video is actually a smaller part of the process than you might think...

Once we have captured footage, we then spend time ingesting, organising and selecting the best clips. This then goes into the video editing timeline.

We then create the story (arguably the most important part), creating a compelling narrative that keeps the viewer interested. Once that's completed, we then add b-roll footage over that to help tell the story visually.

We then add any custom motion graphics, including lower thirds, bugs, text on screen etc. Next up is musicsand sound effects - an underrated and often overlooked element in video production.

It was a weekend well spent filming and photographing the annual Watchet Summertime event for Western Marinas.

Thanks to all of the local committee members, visitors and Western Marinas team for all their help. We lost count of how many people we spoke to about the event, and the continued investment in the marina is clearly still having positive ripple effects on the small town!

Photos are the event are now edited and we're are underway creating a highlight video.

WE DID IT!

It's been a slightly different week for us, as we swapped our cinematic cameras, laptops and lighting for hiking, camping and water crossings!

This year's challenge was to hike Iceland's Laugavegur Trail, trekking across 55km of volcanic sand, mountains, snow and mud, with everything we needed (clothing, food & tent) in our rucksacks.

It was epic week and we loved it! Any suggestions for our next out-of-office challenge?

Set in the most epic location on the South Coast of England, Lake Yard is a marina and boat yard with its own restaurant and club house.

We were asked to photograph the restaurant, delicious food, happy customers and the team. Plus, their new function room / co-working space, the Deckroom.

It's our second year working with the Lake Yard team, and we love it there! Promotional video coming soon...

Thank you to Western Marinas for asking us to cover the 25th Anniversary of Watchet Marina.

We spent time photographing and filming the celebrations, plus interviewing the WM team and local residents who have watched the marina change over the last 25+ years. Thank you to all involved for taking the time to share your memories with us.
