August, you were very good to us 🤍✈️

A month filled with travelling, beautiful hotels, fantastic experiences and so many memories made along the way — all shared with my partner in crime, travel buddy and best friend, Martin 🥰

Looking back at these clips has reminded me just how much we managed to pack in. I’m feeling incredibly grateful for every place we visited, every experience we shared and every moment in between.

How do UGC creators actually get paid? 💷

Welcome to Part 6—and the final instalment—of my mini-series explaining what UGC actually is and what it isn’t.

UGC creators are usually paid an agreed fee to produce content for a brand. This could include talking-head videos, product demonstrations, testimonials, voiceovers, unboxings or lifestyle footage.

The amount you charge will depend on what you’re creating, the length of the content, the filming and editing involved, and how the brand plans to use it.

If your content will be used in paid advertising, the brand should usually pay an additional fee for usage rights. Some creators also earn commission through affiliate links, but that’s separate from your content-creation fee.

And remember: receiving a free product is not the same as being paid for your time, skills and content.

Do you need professional equipment or previous experience to become a UGC creator? The simple answer is no! 📱

Welcome to Part 5 of my mini-series explaining what UGC actually is—and what it isn’t.

You don’t need an expensive camera, a professional studio or years of experience. Most UGC is filmed on a smartphone because brands want content that feels natural, relatable and made for social media.

Good lighting, clear sound and a clean background are enough to get started. You can even practise with products you already have at home and use those videos to begin building your portfolio.

Remember, nobody starts as an experienced creator. You learn by filming, experimenting and improving as you go.

Don’t wait until you have all the fancy equipment—start with what you have and upgrade later!

Creators are needed in their thirties, forties, fifties, sixties and beyond. In fact, your age, life experience and ability to connect naturally with people can be some of your greatest strengths.

I started creating UGC in my fifties and have now worked with more than 250 brands. So please don’t convince yourself that you’ve left it too late—you haven’t!

You don’t need to look younger or behave like a twenty-something creator. Brands need real, relatable people their customers can recognise and trust.

Unlike influencer work, brands aren’t paying for access to your audience. They’re paying for your ability to create natural, relatable content that they can use on their own social media, websites and paid advertising.

You don’t need a huge following, a viral account or a perfectly curated Instagram feed. What matters is your ability to speak naturally on camera, follow a brief, showcase a product and create content that people can trust and relate to.
