To the British Baseball Community,
After 170+ episodes and five years of running the British Baseball Podcast, I’ve made the decision to step away and bring it to a close. This hasn’t been an easy decision, the show has been such a big part of my life, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support I’ve had from the community.
When I first started the podcast, it was simply about giving British baseball a platform, sharing stories, and connecting people who love the game. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to record with players, coaches, and fans who’ve given their time, their passion, and their honesty. It’s been a privilege to sit behind the mic and try to do justice to those stories.
But over 2025, I’ve felt my energy and focus shifting. Rather than carrying on half-heartedly, I’d rather be honest with myself and with you all. So this is the right moment for me to step back.
I was supposed to be in Rotterdam this weekend to watch GB play with Chris Ward and Paul Vernon, I drove 5 hours to Guildford from Manchester and had some mental health issues along the way which nose dived off a cliff once I tried to settle and on Saturday morning when the three of us were to set off on the road trip of a life time, my road trip was a solo one back home to Manchester to my young family. I have seen a lot of support out there and a lot of coverage, so I know you're in good hands for content :)
There are a few people I want to thank personally:
Kevin Macadam for opening his phone book of contacts straight away and arranging guests for me straight away, names I never thought possible.
The GB Baseball coaching staff and players who always gave their time and access, Liam Carroll Drew Spencer Jonathon Cramman Jonathan Rodriguez Chris Ward Bradley Marcelino Will Lintern and I apologise for anyone I have missed off the list
Amanda Hocking for asking me to break the news of the GB Womens Baseball Team being a thing is one of my proudest moments ever, thank you for letting me be a part of your big moment.
Will Lintern Josh Chetwynd Gabriel Fidler Andrew Taylor for all the podcast support and content, and for asking me to be a part of Project COBB and the Hall of Fame duties, something I would love to continue with, but understand if I a no longer allowed to do so.
All the folks at Batflips and Nerds, they were huge supporters of the podcast right from the off and gave great advice and support, all the way up until last night when I mentioned wasn't able to make Rotterdam.
Jason Derr and John Mckellar Ball Caps and Ballcaps & Bagpipes was a hue inspiration for me and its great to see its still in good hands.
Ian Blease and John Baxendale if it wasn't for the podcast I would never have made two such lovely friends, its been great to meet up and watch the might Bolton Wanderers together and long may it continue.
My podcast guests and listeners — every download, every share, every bit of feedback has meant the world. Your valuable time means more to me tat you'll ever know.
And of course, my wife and son, for giving me the time to chase this project. They have put up with me on my daft adventures than I can count .
British baseball is full of passionate people who keep the game alive against the odds, and I’m proud to have played a small part in that story. Though the podcast is ending, I’ll still be cheering the game on — just from a different seat.
If you or a group of you would like to take over the role on the British Baseball Podcast, please feel free to reach out to me, I will hand over the keys to the social media accounts, back catalogue and support you in any way I can, DM me or email [email protected]
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
