Norwegian Air Shuttle has put its name down for another 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with the US planemaker announcing the order earlier this morning. The carrier, which flies the type both under its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and that of its Swedish subsidiary, now has 80 737 MAX jets on order.

On Wednesday night, a United Express Embraer ERJ-145 went off the runway while landing at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport in Virginia. The flight, operated by CommuteAir on behalf of United Airlines, had departed Washington Dulles with 50 passengers and three crew members on board.

The jet came to a stop in a safety system installed beyond the runway, which prevented the situation from escalating into a more serious accident. No injuries were reported, though operations at the airport were briefly halted as officials responded to the incident. Several scheduled flights were delayed until the following morning.

The German airline, Lufthansa, is marking the 100th anniversary of their founding with a fundamental redesign of the onboard experience. The 70 million euros investment will bring more comfort, flexibility, and the unique Lufthansa Signature Moments to long-haul flights starting Spring 2026.

U.K. authorities on Wednesday said a man in his 40s has been arrested in connection to the hack of Collins Aerospace, which led to major flight disruptions across Europe over the past weekend.

The U.K.’s National Crime Agency said it arrested the man in the West Sussex area on Tuesday evening, on suspicion of violations related to the Computer Misuse Act, according to a post from the agency.

The man, who was not identified by name, has been released on conditional bail, according to the agency.

While the arrest is considered a “positive step,” an investigation into the case is in the early stages and is ongoing, said deputy director Paul Foster, who leads the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit.

A spokesperson for the NCA confirmed the ongoing nature of the investigation, but would not provide additional comment.

Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, provides technology to airlines for passenger check-in and boarding.

A spokesperson for RTX confirmed knowledge of the arrest and thanked authorities for their assistance in the case.

In a post on Mastodon, security researcher Kevin Beaumont said the attack is linked to a variant of Hardbit ransomware.

Several major international airline hubs, including Heathrow Airport in London, Brussels Airport and Berlin Airport, experienced flight delays.

Heathrow officials Wednesday said the vast majority of flights are operating normally, but urged passengers to still arrive at least three hours early for long-haul travel.

A 13-year-old Afghan boy survived a perilous stowaway attempt by hiding in the landing gear compartment of Kam Air flight RQ4401 from Kabul to Delhi (Airbus A340-300 reg. YA-KME).

The boy, from Kunduz in northern Afghanistan, was discovered wandering the runway at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after the plane landed on Sunday morning. He was detained and questioned by India’s Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) before being returned to Kabul on the same aircraft.

Authorities said the boy had trailed passengers into Kabul airport and concealed himself in the aircraft’s rear wheel well. He told police he intended to reach Iran and boarded the wrong flight. His only possession was a small red audio speaker found during post-flight inspections.

Aviation experts note survival in wheel wells is extremely rare due to freezing temperatures and lack of oxygen at cruising altitude. Survivors often lose consciousness and risk falling when the landing gear is deployed.

The incident highlights ongoing airport security vulnerabilities, as well as the desperation of stowaways seeking to flee unstable regions.

An individual has been arrested for pointing a laser at US President Donald Trump's helicopter during its approach to the White House. A uniformed Secret Service member saw him in the act on a public street, according to the New York Times. Jacob Samuel Winkler, 33, is the perpetrator currently facing felony charges for his dangerous and malicious action.
