The third runway, northwest of Heathrow's location, is expected to be 3,500 meters (11,400 feet) long; however, the airport is open to considering a shorter runway as long as it is longer than 3,000 meters. Costs to build a new runway are estimated to be £21bn.

New terminal complexes named T5XW and T5XN would be built, Terminal 2 extended, and Terminals 1 and 3 would be demolished.

The total cost of the expansion is estimated to be £49bn and would be privately funded. However, some airlines expressed their concern that the project would cause an increase in passengers’ fees to fund the expansion.

Even when cruising at 35,000 feet, the air pressure inside an aircraft cabin is set to feel like you’re at 6,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level. 🌫️

This is called cabin pressurization, and it’s done to keep passengers comfortable while preventing the need for oxygen masks.
But at that altitude, the air still has less oxygen than at sea level — which is why you might feel a bit tired, dizzy, or dehydrated during long flights.

Russia Plane Crash: All 49 Onboard Feared Dead After Antonov An-24 Goes Down Near Tynda

On July 24, 2025, a Russian Antonov An-24 passenger plane, operated by Angara Airlines and carrying approximately 49 people—including 43 passengers (with five children) and six crew members—crashed in the Amur region near the town of Tynda in Russia’s Far East.

The aircraft lost radar contact minutes before landing during its approach amid poor visibility. Emergency teams located the burning wreckage about 15 kilometres from Tynda. Officials have confirmed there were no survivors found during an aerial inspection, reported TASS, a Russian state news agency. A criminal investigation is underway, examining crew error during a second landing attempt and adverse weather as likely factors. - The Logical Indian
