Marketing. Some would have you believe it’s a science. Or a dark art. Or a mastery of smoke and mirrors. It’s not. It’s an incredibly simple process of knowing your audience, understanding how they think, then saying what they want to hear...even when sometimes they don’t yet know it’s what they want to hear! Your audience could be millions. Or just a few thousand. Or occasionally only a handful of key decision makers. When it’s the latter, nothing hits home better than a personalised approach. Something exclusive. Something unique. Something that resonates...instantly. From the gently persuasive to the ultimate in hand-made, bespoke communication, we create, we design and we talk the talk that gets results. Simple...when you know how.

Of course, the talking starts with you.

WHEN RAISING AWARENESS RAISES FUNDING TOO

It’s a hugely competitive world for charities. While personal and corporate incomes are compromised by the challenges presented by today’s ‘new normal’, raising donations from individuals, encouraging bequests, or securing funding from major institutions has never been more difficult…or important! Cutting through with relatable messages is critical. High visibility is key. And harnessing the power of available channels – especially social media – is the foundation of a positive response. We can’t promise to put millions into your reserves. But if you’re looking for ideas that will make a difference, we have a track record. Thinking Out Loud - Raising awareness. Raising income. Raising the bar.

As one door closes another one opens

Spring 2020’s unexpected lockdown resulted in thousands of business closing their doors overnight, just as most of us closed our front doors too. But fortune favours the brave. For one of our clients…the legendary …temporarily pulling down the shutters on their 40 year over-the-counter business was the signal to start a home delivery service that grew from nothing to phenomenal in a matter of weeks. We kickstarted the launch with a campaign which clocked up countless shares and likes, rapidly taking on a life of its own as we continued to spread the word. Bottom line…the business found itself operating almost round the clock, while those front doors were re-opened to quick-turnaround deliveries of fabulous ‘Bare Necessities’ fresh food at a time when delivery slots from ‘the majors’ were like gold dust. If you’re looking for a sprinkling of gold, from the team that understands how to make social media come alive, you know who delivers. Contact [email protected]

When (a major part of what used to be called the Irish Dairy Board) decided to rebrand a huge selection of their most popular cheeses, it was that took on the challenge of telling the world. First came the , then the , the , the and the , followed by the major national and launches. And along the way, important breakthrough products were also brought on stream and marketed to new, even broader audiences. Result? In little more than a year, has become firmly established as the go-to range of ingredients for the food manufacturing and foodservice industries, with major retailers also joining in the fun and introducing Spinneyfields to a previously untapped domestic market.

This week has seen the launch of a spanking new site for our newest client, Silverfox. We’re delighted to now be working with Raj Somaiya (star of 4OD’s “My Big Fat Asian Wedding”), and his incredible team at Silverfox Events.

As a marketer, it’s essential to stay atop the latest trends, which is why we’ve put together a list of the major developments to watch next year.

You've got the look!!! Hints and tips to the perfect logo design.

1. Do your homework: The best ideas are backed by research and bounced off fellow professionals or even customers in brainstorm sessions. Take a look at logos that have been effective for a long time. Never copy anyone else’s logo, but figure out the characteristics that make them work. Also make sure your logo is unique enough to differentiate you from your competitors.

2. Little and large: Your logo could appear on something as small as a pin badge, to something as large as a billboard. If it contains text, make sure it is legible in all of the sizes.

3. Less is more: Stay simple with your logo design…it’s easier to grow your brand identity than to take pieces of a logo away when they start to bore you or go out of fashion. Brand image can always evolve with new imagery, use of colour, tone of voice etc, so steer clear of an elaborate logo and leave the changes for something less critical to your brand awareness.

4. Wear it with pride: Is your business going to have branded merchandise like uniforms, t-shirts, mugs, bags etc? Make sure your logo is something classic that people would be willing to wear, and something the printing company can duplicate on cloth or other non-paper materials. Be aware of the amount of colours you use in your logo…more colours equals more production costs!

5. Positive and negative: This might seem insignificant, but make sure your logo can appear in not only your brand’s colour(s) but also black or white. Your logo might need to translate to white to stand out from a dim photo or translate to black to avoid blending into a colourful, patterned background. This way, a background will never dictate a logo redesign.

It’s about time to practise what I preach.

This morning I sat in a very informative talk about LinkedIn. There was very little in the talk I didn’t already know. However, it got me thinking, we are so busy tending to our clients needs and advising them on what to do to achieve a balanced marketing strategy, (which includes a great chunk of social media) it means that we do very little for ourselves. The long and short of it is we don’t practise what we preach.

When I got back to the office I logged on to our company Facebook and LinkedIn pages. The last time we posted anything was almost a year ago!!!!! We have won a lot of new business in that time, created a lot of great campaigns, been at several events and so the list goes on, but no one knows about it, because we don’t shout about it.

The speaker suggested that we only need 10 minutes a day to keep our LinkedIn accounts active, for them to be a useful tool in finding new contacts and business.

These are the 5 key steps that were highlighted which I thought I would share with you…

• Search for prospects

• Connect with one person a day

• Engage with someone else’s post

• Share your own content

• Choose the best time of day to do so`
(Mon-Fri, AM – Commuting time / Lunch

So as of today watch this space!!!!

Oh and don’t forget if you’re reading this and thinking that’s all well and good but I wouldn’t know where to start, then I know of someone who does…

Unfortunately we had to say a sad farewell to the office pet today... who has kept many a client amused over the years. Thank you "Big Fish" for the company while we've been burning the midnight oil. I know our clients are already starting to miss you. RIP in goldfish heaven.
