Why a “Do Not Play” List Matters

When planning your wedding, most couples spend time choosing the songs they love, which is great, but have you thought about the songs you may not want want to hear?

A Do Not Play List is one of the most valuable tools you can give your DJ if you know of any. Whether it’s a song that brings back bad memories, an overplayed party anthem, or simply a genre that’s not your style, letting your DJ know in advance helps create a soundtrack that truly reflects you.

As your DJ, my goal is to keep the dancefloor busy and cater for everyone, while making sure every song played fits the atmosphere you’ve envisioned. Having a Do Not Play List means there are no awkward surprises, and your guests can enjoy a celebration that feels personal to you both.

Top tip: Even if it’s only a few songs or even one, send them over before the big day. You’ll thank yourself later!
