Join me for another hour of Tony's Rock and Roll Years as I remember 1968 which was a tumultuous year marked by the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, widespread anti-war protests during the Vietnam War and the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia to suppress the Prague Spring. In the 2nd half of the programme it's back to 1994 where major events included the end of apartheid in South Africa as Nelson Mandela became the President, and the Channel Tunnel officially opened.

You can hear music from

Deep Purple
Jeff Beck
Fifty Foot Hose
Cream
Frank Zappa
Green Day
Terrorvision
Blink -182
Jeff Buckley
Nirvana
Weezer
Pizzicato Five
and from my album of the week
Electric Ladyland from Jimi Hendrix Experience

Be there on www.realrockradio.co.uk at 12 noon tomorrow - repeated on Tuesday at the same time

As we find ourselves 25 years into the 21st century, I’ve become curious as to what you the listeners consider to be the best progressive rock music to have come from this particular side of the millennium gate and I’m hoping you’re willing to assist with a survey of sorts.

I’d like you to tell me which studio album – released no earlier than 1st January 2001 - you would consider to be the best of the bunch. All I’d ask is that you send an e-mail to [email protected] with the name of the artist followed by the album in the subject header. Please enter the details exactly as they appear on the album. There is no need to include any other information in the main text. I’ll run with this idea right up to 31st December and compile a playlist of your top 25 albums of the last 25 years. This will be aired as part of the KTP 10th anniversary event schedule in January 2026.

Thanks in advance

Eddie

Hi everybody

It's that time of the week again where I invite you for a trip back in time and remind yourselves on the brilliant music we were listening to back in the day.

This time round, I'm going back to when the UK charts were awash with soundtracks from films and musical such as Oliver, Hair and The Sound of Music.

It wasn't all Rodgers and Hammerstein II, Lionel Bart and Galt MacDermot as you will find out if you tune at 12 noon tomorrow. I'll be playing some great tracks from 1969 from the likes of
Blind Faith Band Fans
The Beatles
Fraternity of Man
Steppenwolf
Fleetwood Mac
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Joe Cocker
Led Zeppelin

as well as two tracks from my Album of the Weeks, the brilliant Hot Rats from Frank Zappa

That's 12 noon tomorrow on www.RealRockRadio.co.uk and if you miss it, you can hear the repeat on Tuesday at the same time.

Tony.
