People say APF’s bread and butter is sludge and doom. Fair enough. But The Hyena Kill and Corrupt Moral Altar most definitely aren’t doom. And what even is doom anyway? Where does it end and sludge begin? Genre tags are rubbish – they don’t really sum up what we do.
One thing’s always been clear though: APF is about the UK. Every band we’ve ever signed is from here. We’ve even turned down overseas names who’ve since gone on to get pretty big, because supporting this scene has always been the point.
And just when you think you’ve got us pegged, we throw a curveball. Hardcore, noise, grind, punk, black 'n' roll, alternative, the unclassifiable (we're looking at you, Under). If it’s loud and uncompromising, it belongs.
So yeah, in the age of short attention spans we’ve decided to put out a two-hour compilation of punishing music. Uneasy Listening – 30 tracks, spanning 110 releases of weird and wonderful APF sounds.
If you’re new to APF, this is a chance to hear what the UK underground really sounds like. If you’ve been with us from the start, it’s a fun trip through our first 8 years.
Hope you dig it. Happy Saturday all. 🤟
