As a self-funded theatre company, we know how hard it is to find cheap and affordable rehearsal space, in and around Manchester. We've been struggling for years!

Starting as low as £7/hour (for a minimum of 2 hrs), we can make the price cheaper for you the more sessions you book at once.

Based in Ardwick, we are just 4 stops on the bus from Piccadilly Station, or a 20 minute walk.

Hope Mill Theatre, in association with Qweerdog Theatre Company, are looking for local writers and theatre makers who identify as LGBTQIA + to create short pieces of theatre reflecting heritage themes.🏳️‍🌈

Thanks to the National Lottery Heritage fund and National Lottery players, Hope Mill Theatre are spending their 200th birthday exploring and celebrating the history of the mill, the surrounding areas and the people who have lived and worked there since the mill was built in 1824. As part of this celebration, we are commissioning four short pieces of theatre to be performed as part of Qweer Shorts at Turn On Fest in February 2025. The pieces can be any form of theatre - narrative, dance, spoken word, music etc… but should not exceed 15 mins and have a maximum of three performers. Once chosen, the pieces will be developed, cast, rehearsed and performed at Hope Mill Theatre with professional artists and the support of both Hope Mill and Qweerdog creatives.🙌

We are currently looking for expressions of interest from local artists and theatre makers. We will then send out a pack of LGBTQIA+ focussed heritage research to use as a provocation and ask you to submit a short pitch about the theatre you would like to create.

If you are interested in getting involved, please email [email protected] with the subject line ‘Qweer Shorts’ stating your interest. At this stage, we would just like a few lines about your work as an artist and why you would be interested in getting involved. We will then send you the research pack and further information. The deadline for pitches to be submitted is the 6th December 2024. Successful writers/makers will receive a commission of £250.

Got a festive themed qweer short in you?

We're looking for four new LGBTQ+ pieces to add to the bill at our one-night only Christmas special.

Deadline midnight Nov 6th.

The pieces can be anything from poetry and spoken word, monologues or simply a short play - they can be between 5-20 mins in length - and we try to select a variety of pieces to reflect the qweer rainbow as best we can.
