Flourish Foundry – Wise Up Wednesday: LinkedIn – Make It Work for You 👩‍💻👨‍💼

Another brilliant month at Wise Up Wednesday with the fantastic Flourish Foundry! These sessions are always packed with useful insights and get us thinking more deeply about how we run our businesses – and how we show up on platforms like LinkedIn.

This one definitely gave me a clearer idea of where I can step up my game – and it was great to hear from other business owners sharing their views too.

And what a great place to meet – The Space in Congleton is such a welcoming venue… every place should have a pick & mix stall! 🍬🙌

As always, full of smiles and laughter, but also expertly kept in line by headmaster Dave 👨‍🏫😄

Behind the Scenes at Spiky Carrot

Something we’re really proud of (and wanted to shout about!) is the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes to improve how we get seen in our physical locations.

One thing that’s been on my mind for a while now is the stickers we’ve been using on our ad frames. Originally, they did the job — “Advertise Here” with a Spiky Carrot logo and a QR code — but if I’m honest, they just weren’t cutting through. They often looked a bit lost and didn’t catch the eye like they should.

So, we’ve been experimenting, prototyping, and thinking outside the box — without breaking the bank. After testing lots of different ideas, we’ve finally landed on something that works: custom plaques that sit just under the frames, with our Spiky Carrot icon and a much more scannable QR code.

It’s the little things, but they matter.

One of the best things about Spiky Carrot is our constant drive to improve, evolve, and help small businesses get the visibility they deserve. This is just one of many tweaks we’re making to help boost impressions and get noticed.

Here’s a peek at the end result — we’re chuffed with how it’s turned out!

Small Biz, Big Impact – A Day of Carrot Cake, Conversations & Community! 🥕

Down at Altrincham HQ at the Con Club for the Smiley Happy People networking event with local businesses – always a highlight of the calendar and brilliant to meet so many new faces.

This time we had local MP Connor Rand giving a talk – first time I’ve ever met my local MP! Shortly after, I met another lovely independent business who even gifted me a slice of carrot cake (Which Piper, my four-legged business associate, had her eye on it the second I walked in the door. She’s got taste.)

A few interesting takeaways from today – one, it’s very warm (shorts are now on), but more importantly, it’s a reminder of how vital it is to support small businesses. Not just in politics, but also those who often go unseen yet have a huge impact.

It’s exactly why I love what Spiky Carrot is about – helping promote amazing small businesses inside other small businesses in a way that’s both affordable and effective. Real-world print ads that get you seen.
