We’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times - Barack and Michelle Obama address divorce rumors

Former US President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have addressed rumors that have plagued them for much of the past year.

Barack Obama joined his wife and his brother-in-law Craig Robinson on Wednesday for an episode of the siblings' podcast, "IMO."

During the new episode, Robinson remarked that it was “nice to have” the former first lady and president “in the same room.”

“I know, because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced,” the former first lady replied.

The former president later said the divorce rumors “are the kinds of things that” he just misses.

“So, I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me, and I’m all like, ‘What are you talking about?’” he added.

Michelle Obama continued on saying, “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I’ve thought about quitting on my man. And we’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”

The Obamas married in 1992 and have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

17-year-old girl beaten to de@th by father and stepmother for not sleeping at home

A 38-year-old woman and the biological father of a teenager have been arrested following the brutal beating and death of the 17-year-old girl in Nyanga, eastern Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Maria Chibego, the victim’s stepmother, and Chakupiwa Kamupira, her biological father, in connection with the death of Rumbidzai Kamupira on 14 July 2025.

In a statement posted on X, the police said the victim was assaulted with open hands and a switch by Maria Chibego after she failed to sleep at home on 13 July. Chakupiwa Kamupira joined in the assault, also using a switch.

“The victim died upon admission at a local clinic,” the statement said.

Rumbidzai collapsed and was rushed to a clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police did not disclose where the teenager had been the previous night, and investigations into the case are ongoing. Neither of the accused has entered a plea.

The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing disbelief over the circumstances leading to the teenager’s death.

14-year-old girl r@ped after being taken to bar by stepmother

Police have confirmed that a 14-year-old Form 2 student from Ruwa was r@ped by a 21-year-old man she met at a bar where her stepmother had taken her. The teenager was drinking with her stepmother when she encountered Clive Sibanda, who allegedly proposed a relationship with her. Disturbingly, the victim told police her stepmother encouraged her to accept Sibanda's advances.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza stated that Sibanda was arrested for r@ping the minor and that the victim had been taken to hospital for medical examination. According to reports, the trio drank alcohol together until around 9 p.m., after which Sibanda drove them home. The girl's father became furious upon their return and ordered them to go back to where they had been. The stepmother then called Sibanda, who returned and took them back to the same bar.

That night, the teenager and her stepmother slept in a room at the bar where Sibanda allegedly r@ped the girl once without protection while the stepmother was present in the same room. The following morning, they returned home around 9 a.m., with the stepmother allegedly lying to her husband that they had slept at a friend's house. The girl later broke down and disclosed the assault to her aunt, prompting a report to the police and Sibanda's arrest.

"If you don't think about what's happening to boys and how they're being raised, that can hurt women" - Barack Obama speaks from the perspective of a man with daughters

Barack Obama has stated that not raising boys properly ends up causing problems for the women who have been well-raised.

The former US President appeared on his wife Michelle's podcast, which will air today, July 16.

In a preview of the chat, Barack emphasized the importance of raising men and boys and how their upbringing has implications for the world.

Barack said: "For those of you who do not have sons, So, Emma, we are rooting for you because those of us with daughters..."

"We need good men," Michelle Obama interjected.

Barack continued: "We've got to have good guys out there, not necessarily to get married, but to make sure that...

"What we're learning, I think, is that when we don't think about boys and just assume they're going to be OK because they've been running the world and they've got all the advantages relative to girls, all of which has historically been true in all kinds of ways, but precisely because of that, if you're not thinking about what's happening to boys and how are they being raised, then that can actually hurt women."

He then explained, "Some of the broad political trends we've seen not just in this country, but around the world, have to do with this sense of boys and men not feeling as if they are seen, feeling as if they count."

Barack said, in turn, some men and boys become deceived by people who tell them the reason they feel that way is because women are being empowered.

Barack said the boys and men become "more interested in appeals by folks who say, 'You know what, the reason you don't feel respected is because women have been doing this, or this group has been doing this,' and that's not a healthy place to be."

While Barack acknowledged that society has made major strides in gender equality, noting, "We rightly have tried to invest in girls to make sure that there's a level playing field and they're not barred from opportunities."

However, he added, "We haven't been as willing, I think, to be intentional about investing in the boys, and that's been a mistake."

Barrack Obama says raising a son would have been more difficult and he's relieved he didn't have to

The former US president, 63, was a guest on his wife Michelle Obama’s IMO podcast alongside her older brother Craig Robinson.

The episode will premiere on Wednesday, July 16.

A preview shared ahead of its release showed Barack and Michelle discussing raising their two daughters, Sasha, 24, and Malia, 27.

“I think we did a pretty good job of raising our girls, but I've said often that I think I would have had more difficulty raising a son,” Barack said, to which Michelle replied, “I agree.”

“I think I might've been more judgmental, harder, and I would've tried to — I'd like to think I would have been more self-aware enough to combat that, but I just think father-son relationships, for me, particularly if I don't have a dad around to show it to me, might've been more difficult,” the former president added.

Barack has previously opened up about the minimal presence his father had in his own life, as he was born in Hawaii and raised by his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, after his parents divorced when he was two years old.

This is not the first time Barack and Michelle have addressed a hypothetical son. Last month, during a different episode of her IMO podcast, the former first lady said she was “so glad” she didn’t have a boy.

Kenyan couple arrested for exploiting their children, aged 13, 7 and 4 in online s3x ring

A Kenyan couple have been arrested for s3xual exploitation of their three children.

Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) disclosed this in a statement on Monday, July 14, 2025.

“A team of detectives drawn from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU) and DCI Changamwe have arrested two suspects in Mombasa for the alleged exploitation and online solicitation of minors,” the statement read.

"Acting on intelligence leads, officers apprehended 41-year-old Regina Kauli Munyoki, who was reportedly using a dating site to market her three children, aged 13, 7, and 4 (two girls and one boy) for sexual exploitation.

"Investigations revealed that Regina was generating income by sharing s3xually explicit content involving her children and offering them to interested clients in exchange for money.

"Disturbingly, it was further established that her husband, 52-year-old Isaiah Owala Gura, had been repeatedly defiling their 13-year-old daughter since she was just 11.

"Thanks to forensic leads, the suspects were swiftly trailed and apprehended.

"Both suspects have since been arraigned before the Mombasa Law Courts, where Regina was granted a bond of Sh1 million, with two sureties of the same amount.

“Meanwhile, Isaiah remains in custody at Shazu Prisons, awaiting a bond ruling scheduled for tomorrow, July 15, 2025.”

Singer Britney Spears announces she has adopted a baby girl and reveals her name

Britney Spears has shared some exciting news.

The 43-year-old pop icon announced on social media that she has officially adopted a baby girl.

The revelation came along with a video where Spears could be seen dancing in her home.

"I want to let you guys know I adopted a beautiful baby girl !!! Her name is Lennon London Spears," Spears wrote in the caption of the video.

Spears added that Lennon was wearing an "adorable dress" that said "I'm NEW HERE !!!" although she did not share any footage of the little girl.

Earlier, some eagle-eyed fans did notice that Spears had a baby carrier in the background of another one of her dancing videos.

While the baby news may come as a surprise, it's not the first time Spears has shared her intention to adopt.

Back in January, Spears posted a now-deleted Instagram video where she wrote in the caption, "I've decided I'm going to adopt a baby girl !!!! I'm actually serious !!!"

France's first lady, Brigitte Macron launches appeal after women who claimed she was born a man were cleared of defamation

France's first lady has taken her case against two women over claims she used to be a man to the highest appeals court after a lower court cleared them of defamation

On Thursday, July 11, the Paris appeals court overturned earlier convictions against the two women for spreading false claims - that went viral online - that Brigitte Macron, 72, used to be a man.

Disinformation on Macron's gender has circulated on social media for years. Her 24-year age difference with President Emmanuel Macron has also attracted a lot of comments

Brigitte Macron filed a libel complaint against the two women after they posted a YouTube video in December 2021, alleging she had once been a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux - who is actually Brigitte Macron's brother.

In the video, defendant Amandine Roy, a self-proclaimed spiritual medium, interviewed Natacha Rey, a self-described independent journalist, for four hours on her YouTube channel.

Rey spoke about the 'state lie' and 'scam' she claimed to have uncovered that Jean-Michel Trogneux had changed gender to become Brigitte, and then married the future president.

The claim went viral, including among conspiracy theorists in the United States.

Cameroon President Paul Biya, 92, declares presidential ambition yet again; to contest for the 8th term

Cameroon's President Paul Biya, the world's oldest serving head of state at 92, has declared his intention to run for re-election.

In 2008, Biya scrapped term limits, clearing the way for him to run indefinitely.

His plan to run for re-election for the 8th time was disclosed today, July 13, in a post on the President's official X account.

It reads: "I am a candidate in the presidential election. Rest assured that my determination to serve you matches the urgency of the challenges we face."

Biya, who is seeking a new term that could keep him in office until he is nearly 100, came to power more than four decades ago in 1982, when his predecessor Ahmadou Ahidjo resigned.

His health is the subject of frequent speculation, most recently last year when he disappeared from public view for 42 days.

His re-election bid had been widely anticipated but not formally confirmed until Sunday's social media post.

Biya had been posting regularly on his verified X handle in the buildup to the announcement.

Sunday's announcement is sure to revive debate over Biya's fitness for office. He seldom makes public appearances, often delegating responsibilities to the powerful chief of staff of the president's office.

Last October, he returned to Cameroon after a 42-day absence that sparked speculation he was unwell. The government claimed he was fine but banned any discussion of his health, saying it was a matter of national security.

Under Biya, Cameroon has faced economic challenges and insecurity on several fronts.

Kenyan nanny arrested for brutal m8rder of her employer

Detectives have apprehended a 30-year-old nanny, Mary Chebet, the prime suspect in the brutal m8rder of her employer, Jane Wambui Njoroge, in Naivasha Sub-County, Kenya.

Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) in a statement on Thursday, July 10, 2025 said the arrest follows reports received from the husband of the deceased, a resident of the Karai area in Naivasha.

According to the husband, his wife, who works at Naivasha Sub-County Hospital, went missing on 4 July 2025, after leaving her workplace en route home.

Investigations were launched, and detectives zeroed in on Chebet as the prime suspect.

Under interrogation, she led the officers to the victim’s home in Karai, where she revealed the horrifying scene, her employer’s body buried in a shallow grave behind the house.

With the assistance of public health officers, the decomposing body was exhumed with pieces of clothes tightly wrapped around the victim’s neck.

Chebet is currently in custody as detectives finalise investigations ahead of her arraignment.
